When you're just starting to use a holster the most important thing is to GO SLOW.
If its a stock glock he probably had his finger on the trigger going back into the holster

He said it was on the draw and that he thinks it was probably his shirt or something caught or that he was indeed a dumbass and just accidentally pulled the trigger. Apparently went into shock in the aftermath so doesn't remember exactly what happened. Notably he was using his defensive hollow point ammunition as well. He wasn't a beginner he just made a horrible mistake, y'all should watch the video he's pretty humble and it's instructive as I think this could happen to anyone even someone with experience.

If you watch the video he says he has been carrying in that holster for a few years and the glock 23 was his only ccw gun. He absolutely pulled the trigger even if he doesn't want to admit it.

The shirt theory doesn't line up with reality. He shot himself on the draw.
Shirts pull triggers when you holster a firearm. When you draw a firearm from a holster the fabric of the shirt and firearm are moving in the same direction, up.

it's not that simple, imagine this scenario: the shirt is caught when you are holstering, pressing the trigger but not quite enough to fire, but when he goes to draw there is some amount of downward pressure to establish a grip and it's enough to break the trigger. There's plenty of other scenarios where a foreign object could do something weird and even though you are generally pulling out of the holster against the direction of the trigger, the object presses the trigger.

Again for a stock Glock trigger I'm not convinced of shirt firing during the drawstroke. If your shirts get that "bunched up" in your trigger guard you're not paying attention either way.

I dunno a foreign object seems as likely as wrapping your finger around and pulling the trigger while still completely vertical. Who knows we will probably find out eventually, it was at a class with people watching

Interesting. If you look at his channel he's been very sick for the previous two months with allergy-like symptoms including a trip to the ER. He also mentions taking quite a few allergy medications. I wonder if the meds and his physical ailments played into this, I suspect they did. He probably shouldn't have been engaged in any type of gun training or firearms handling while he was physically ill. Poor judgement, I'm sure he would take it all back on reflection. Regardless, I feel horrible for what he's going through, negligent or not.

I can even imagine the horror of shooting your frank and a bean. I have imagined just this every time I see appendix carry. I don't carry, so opinion may not be worth much, but I think I would be more "comfortable" with some other means.

How about the shirt is caught when you holster and is wrapped around the trigger, when you draw the shirt could be pulled in a way where it's moving faster than the draw which would press the trigger. A foreign object could get caught against the holster and against the trigger and pivot to press the trigger on the draw. Just because you are drawing doesn't mean that every force vector is moving the same direction

Ive run classes the instructor or one of the RO's should have caught the guys shirt getting tangled in his holster it happens gradually not all at once. HOWEVER homeboy should have been checking whats going with his holster especially if its AIWB

for sure, I once did a match from a 3 0 clock owb concealment holster and the RO was all over it if my shirt was anywhere near the holster. We need this guy to make the followup video so we can fine out what actually happened

I still don’t get appendix carry. I’ve tried it a few times. It’s uncomfortable and points a gun at really import stuff. Strong side carry will continue to be how I carry. If I F-up I shoot myself in the ass. So I look stupid and use a donut, I don’t blow my off or bleed out before the RSO stops hyperventilating.
