🔥 PDP-F Coming to CA

I'm glad this thread popped up again.

I had the opportunity to try the 5" PDP Match at Iron Mike's in Yorba Linda. I really liked it! I shot it back to back with the HK VP9L and for me, it felt better in my hand than the HK. I particularly liked the beavertail shape and the grip texture. The trigger was light and crisp, and it shot very flat.

The HK is by no means a slouch, but based on the ~50 rounds I put through each, I'd take the PDP.

been trying to decide between this and a MP2.0 and got to hold them both yesterday and somewhat surprisingly I felt a lot more "at home" holding the M&P 2.0

Most likely will own them both at some point!

I have a PDP full size 5" with the Walther Dynamic Performance trigger and really like it. The gun just feels well-made. Even the plastic case they supply is nicer than everyone else's, haha!!

I have the VP9L OR and, while nice and all, the PDP feels and shoots better for me.

The only drag is I have the '1.0' optics cut so I can't use the Holosun SCS (only works on the '2.0' optics cut, which came out in 2022). At least Walther supplies a nice RMR plate (rumor is C&H makes them for Walther) so not that big of a deal.

The 1.0 can be milled to 2.0 for relatively low cost. I'm thinking of doing that with mine because I prefer the lower profile of the SCS on my PDP-F

Obv they would have to to get into the roster.
No. While they do need a "manual safety" to get on the roster, it does not need to be a thumb safety. The current trigger that the PDP has should meet the "manual safety" requirement as it incorporates a safety lever in the center of the trigger shoe. These style of triggers count as a "manual safety".

I heard the 5" PDP has a ton of muzzle flip. Did you notice that? I have a 5" PPQ and a VP9L and havent noticed any excessive muzzle flip.

I'm hoping they get the PDP compact on the roster. I prefer Walther's trigger shoe vs the VP9.

IMHO the PPQ/PDP series striker fired polymer framed pistols are the best in that category. The best ergonomics, best trigger, and excellent accuracy. Also no silly paddle mag release like HKs.

I'll definitely buy one if they get on the roster.

I dis not notice any significant muzzle flip on either the Walther or the HK. Both shoot pretty flat. That said, I feel the grip quality/retention is superior on the Walther. The HK grip is very nicely contoured but not aggressive enough. The Walther felt REALLY comfortable and stayed in the hand better - better friction in your palm. I was also able to get a little higher up on the grip with the PDP as well.

I had a couple 5" polymer PDPs that I used in carry optics division, then switched it up to the steel frame match for limited optics. Both are great guns, and I wish I didn't sell my polymers. With the poly guns, felt recoil my be a little more than some others out there, but the ergonomics are good and with the right grip, it's easy to get the sights to return to where you need them. The steel frame has a similar feel as the poly, but the added weight softens up the recoil a bit. When it comes down to it, for the added cost, I don't really shoot that much better with the SF.

Between the three pistols, I've put about a zillion rounds downrange with no issues so far. The cool part is that you really don't need to do much to them to make a great gun even better. A set of $17 Sprinco springs and a new recoil spring assembly is really all you need to make this an awesome shooting gun.

My pdp pro compact is pretty snappy. Reminds me of my very first handgun - USP .40. nostalgic but Recoil response not preferred but I'd use it fine if it's what I grab first. Nothing like the Walther ergos, though and I own them all. Helps get a solid grip. Did some digging

Recoil reduction for Walther

Another option

Why do grizzlies get to carry their gun in parks and humans don't? And to think encountering a grizzly couldn't get more unfair

So.... you're asking why bears get to bear arms?

I'd wait until they ship them with the performance triggers.
You might be waiting a while. A performance trigger would require a new SKU, which would mean it would be a different model that would have to be added to the roster, which would mean Walther would have to pay more money to have this "new" model safety tested by the state of California. Correct me if I'm wrong on this...
