4 killed, 10 injured in shooting during family celebration in California. They should start pulling ammo background check logs. That’ll solve the case

How does one "fix the society"?
Ppl need to turn to Christ. Repent for their sins and obey the Lord. They have to abandon the idea that truth is subjective to how you feel on any given day.

In the mean time everything is going to get a lot worse the more people reject this.

Healthcare is free for spacex employees. Never talked about in the propaganda online.

Maybe you should take a vacation to Cuba for a couple weeks and see how it’s going over there. Seriously, go check it out.
Kids starving in Africa has no bearing on food affordability perception in America. Both of those points are neither here nor there to the problems that arise with more and more resources controlled by less and less hands. These powers that be are looking for profits at all costs, and that often involves locking people into a lifetime of insurmountable debt, being for education, healthcare, housing, or necessities. I will point back to you will own nothing and be happy. As someone who owns a small business., I would rather see less debt and more disposable income that rolls around in the greater community so that people may actually use my services with their disposable income.

From your description, it seems like you are saying the right wing are National 👨🏻‍🎨s (e.g. 1930's Germany) and the Left are timid and greedy Democratic 👨🏻‍🎨s.
He's not really talking about the actual Left he's talking about Democrats who are centrists

the constitution were realistic, we
I'm trying to not go too far astray from the goal of finding a solution to the domestic gun violence issue.

There are many, many things wrong with out country and in my minds-eye it all goes back to our constitution and the nearly impossible task of amending it. Certainly if amending the constitution were realistic, we as a nation could kill the "politics-as-an-avenue" to wealth for politicians. Lobbying is not really the issue, it's the money transfers and campaign finance laws and enforcement that are the issues and don't get me started on the military industrial complex, Eisenhower hit the nail squarely on the head about that topic. All of these things could be resolved if we could amend the constitution. At this point, 237 years after the constitution was adopted, it's about time for a Constitution II, a total re-write that takes into account all of the lessons some of us have learned. Even the slave owning Madison, Jefferson and Washington would be aghast that we haven't modified or improved upon their faded words, written on sheepskin so many, many years ago. At the very least article II section 1, the electoral college must be erased and article V, which covers the process for amending the constitution needs a total re-write.

I actually think everything boils down to whether or not people's basic needs and security, promise of a future are met. Through that cohesive social safety forms upward mobility occurs and crime diminishes as prosperity flourishes.

Noone is angry enough to shoot up their school when their future is full of hope and promise, their opportunities are abundant, their role models are magnanimous and their stomachs are full. Atleast, the occurrence is likely very rare.

The changes you are talking about are positioned closer to the mouth of the funnel than they are to the outlet. Don't get me wrong, they are reasonable changes but, I do think there needs to be a more direct way of intercepting people who are in crisis and about to execute a mass casualty event. Something that can be implemented more rapidly than building a massive new mental health system, educating enough professionals and finding a way to dramatically change the tax system to go after capitol gains, investment income and other non-regressive sources.

In my mind, one of the ways to do that is regular psych screening for everyone who owns or is purchasing firearms and ammunition. Let's say every two years and I think this is something that should be implemented on a federal level and apply to all 50 states. Also, there needs to be a way for owners to prove they are still in possession of all firearms registered to them or prove they have been legally transferred to other people. Lastly, there needs to be a way of accounting for the firearms of the deceased, right now, they seem to just vanish into the ether.

I think the first point re interdiction is currently implemented as "red flag" laws in some states. I'm not aware of any studies on the efficacy of said laws but that would go to a quick method of removing firearms if you suspect someone is at risk of self-harm or mass casualty events. I'm not sure what the latter portion re going after capital gains, investment income or other tax sources has to do with gun safety? They seem more like changes that would be aimed at income disparity and/or tax policy. Were you referring to them as means for funding mental health?

The second point re mandatory psych screening seems a bit intrusive for my tastes. I know there's a balance between security and freedom but a mandatory screening and having that information stored with the state seems draconian to me. . Agreed on ownership and legal transfer - I don't really care about audits as I deal with them for other reasons regularly. Gun buybacks seem like a decent way to removing undesirable guns from circulation.

How much of our tax dollars are funding spaceX? See my prior posts about jobs programs.

As someone whe has gone to a lot of psychiatrists and therapists, it's simply not scientific enough for a psych screening to be worthwhile. At best they can ask you "do you intend to harm yourself or others" "um... no? "

How many other companies are transporting goods, GPS satellites, and humans to space and the ISS?

Literally zero bro. You gonna boycott GPS or what?

Also I thought tax funded healthcare was the whole idea? Why a problem now?

You’re free to believe what you want. I find it odd people go out of their way to rebuke something they’ve never approached with intellectual curiosity.

But you’re free to bury your head in the sand.

Try money. People seem to like money for some reason.

It's hard to take what you say seriously if you make weird assumptions about what someone has or hasn't thought about. I'm not sure who you are trying to fool with that kind of statement but you certainly aren't making an intellectual argument reached through intellectual curiosity. I see your other comment here about Norway and it's clear you are an ignorant racist POS. You are literally just saying "we can't have a better society because I'm racist. "

The solution might be as simple as a public execution. Take the perp out into the middle of the street, truss him up so he can’t run, give the families of the victim guns, and tell them to start shooting him, starting with his legs. And show it on every TV channel.

Yes, funding mental health care as well as all other health care.

I don't feel the psych eval details should be shared with the government or any other health information for that matter. I think they should be a simple pass/fail test with the opportunity for appeal and retesting. On the other hand if the psych eval reveals the applicant is an immediate danger to society, the professional doing the evaluation should be able to call for a 5150 hold on the individual.

All one has to do is read some of the posts on this and other similar forums to realize there are a lot of people with access to firearms who shouldn't even have access to kitchen knives.

There is no legal designation of domestic terrorist organization. Criminal gangs committing murders are nothing new, and we have laws on the books to deal with them. Research shows that neither longer sentences nor the death penalty have much of a deterrence effect on potential criminals. What does show an effect is certainty of being caught. But this certainly of being caught is going to be at the cost of privacy and freedom. With every liberal interpretation of freedom one will have to accept that the chaos that is part of the human condition is going to rear its ugly head.

It's important to note that Congress has defined "domestic terrorism" in 18 U.S.C. § 2331(5), albeit for statutory purposes.

Norway isn’t 80% Norwegians?

Let me get this straight…

I’m reaching…

But you’re right that me, a stranger you’ve never met or spoken with, is a racist? Off one out of context post on a niche gun forum?

Word bro. Sounds like totally sane and normal logic

Gimme a break Nancy

GPS is great. We had GPS before spaceX. spaceX is just another tax funded company that wouldn't exist without uncle sams donations.

Healthcare will believe it or not continue to exist without the government funding the administrative monster that's private insurance behind it all.
