I want to go on record as strongly suggesting that the admins of this site NOT ALLOW animated GIFs.

I find sites that allow them very distacting to my everyday use. They do, in fact, accomplish the purpose that people that use them desire: That being: "Hey look at me: Hey I do not give a rats ass to be constantly distracting your use of this site blasting your eyeballs with my self centered GIFs: Hey I am more important than anyone else here..etc..etc.."

At this time there is actually a Animated GIF allowed in the icon of a particular user that posts here a lot. It is incredibly annoying ! I like to speed read/ scan the listing of various forums, but these animated GIFs make that a lot of work as my eye-ball/brain stops on every stupid animation.

Just my 2 cents: ($0.02)
 
Well, Ryan, thanks for your insightful and detailed post that helps to further the discussion in a positive way that helps provide a better 2A site. But, seriously, I understand and hope you start to feel better very soon. Rather than use your keyboard why not get dressed today, get some fresh air, go out in the real world, find a local bar, find someone there that has point of view, any point of view and poke your finger in their chest yell obscenities in their face. You know be a confrontational jerk that has basic insecurities that drive the behavior for all to see. Humm,, internet forums and keyboards are a lot safer, I understand.

But all is not lost. Progress has been made. The site now has a Preference toggle in your Profile to turn off the potty mouths, now we need another toggle to turn off the Animated GIFs.
