Any Shooting Ranges that let you mag dump?

Superlative, Wilson Combat, Riflespeed, all good, but I typically shy away from adjustable on any rifle that's intended for serious use. Another point of failure I'd rather not deal with, which is why I said if it can be mitigated with a better buffer system and still cycles reliably, just leave it alone.

d. wilson manufacturing. If you want custom work or a barrel cut to a particular spec, he's the guy.
Yeh, that’s true. I haven’t tried adjustable gas blocks yet but have read for a serious use gun; the gas block set screw loosening can be an issue?

Have you watched the t-Rex arms video about aero m5? They were testing and trying to run it hard? I know you did say; take what lucas does and say with a grain of salt. I guess don’t believe everything. However, I did read they didn’t really lube the bcg, that bolt catch set screw could have been loctited, handguard screw could have been double checked on torque or torque to 20 inch pounds instead of 15.

“This would likely be a significant benefit to the M5, but at this time, there aren’t many adjustable gas options for direct impingement AR-15/AR-10 rifles that we would recommend or trust for duty/defense use.”

SGR on Routier let’s you mag dump! I tend to only mad dump in the 50 yard. I’ve gotten a couple of looks my way from the older shooters. The RSOs will come take a look but as long as you aren’t being dumb about it, they won’t say anything.
I heard the A/C isn’t bad there for hot summer days? Is this true?

I seen on their website they have some kind of VIP lounge for members too?

If you buy one of the quality brands I mentioned, SLR and Seekins are also good, you shouldn't have a problem. I'm just a little more oldschool and probably set in my ways, so the way I figure is if you can get something to run reliably with less moving parts, all the better.

And yes I've seen that video. I appreciate Aero's dedication to improving their quality, and think they offer great bang for buck rifles. That said, I wasn't surprised at the outcome of the video either since they're still a relatively new company. I've done a number of M5 builds for myself and others and had to work through a few small gremlins to get them running well, but that's bound to happen with a lot of AR-10s since there isn't one standardized "milspec" that they're built to, so getting certain parts/manufacturers functioning well with others or with certain types of ammo sometimes takes a little work. If you want quality straight out of the box you buy something like Larue or LMT.

🤣 need to bring a bath towel as a mat and then also a 4 or 6 inch magnetic parts tray. 🤣
Hell yeah.
Those indoor plastic formed table things would be really handy.

Say like you wanna tune up your new gas gun.
All you care about is seeing if you can tune it so it'll be reliable first.
Then you want to refine your tune trying to maintain some acceptable reset glued to your optic.

Totally understandable goals requiring rapid strings if not mag dumps.
The amount of crap you might have to swap in and out, or whittle on, is relevant.

Then im going to want to beat on it for more than the total round count of a match.
See if im ripping rims, feed issues with specific mags, rd count to when i gotta do a clean/lube.

Actual goals bc i have something real in mind im paying money to do in the near future.
Id like whatver gear im using to not break, go out of tune, or surprise me in a manner i havent fixed yet.

Yeh, a roll pin sounds more secure than an adjustable screw that isn’t meant to be loctited; less room or one less factor for failure.

The larue or LMT part; I guess that’s why Aero had its attraction where folks didn’t need to pay that kind of money for an AR-10 rig?

Have you ever heard of this company?

In forums, I’ve read some folks recommend the kaw valley precision 5.7 oz shorty carbine buffer with an orange sprinco spring for their aero m5 over gas issues for both mid-length and rifle gas system.

However, on that sellers website, they are of the thought that the orange springco spring might not be reliable? So, they recommend their modified heavy buffer spring that is also sold on Brownells.

“Sigh” I think I should go with your rec of just leaving the gas system alone or just stop messing with it if it’s running so far.

“I recommend using my custom .308 Carbine Buffer Springs with these buffers. These springs are manufactured specifically for use with CAR-10/CAR-10 XH buffers. OEM springs and aftermarket springs (including Sprinco White/Red/Orange/Yellow/Green/Blue/Indigo/Violet/Black) may cause malfunctions. 'Flat-Wire' springs are not recommended for any application.”

One of the issues the high variability of m80 ball.
The spec is for use of that round in a machinegun.
If you use clones of various pricision battle rifle or military bolt gun loads it will be variable, but less so.

Ideally you start rolling a set m80, m118lr, etc fixed load controlling the components as much as possible.
Ive seen gas gun owners soend enough time chasing tail trying to get their setup fixed without understanding variable changes.

Yes, I have a few of Clint's products. Just email him and he'll ask you a few specifics about your build, and then send you the proper buffer setup to accomodate. Good stuff.

I've heard good things about asotoria range in soledad, Ive heard directly from RSO's that they dont care if you mag dump or do the forced one shot second intervals. but im mostly at their 700yd shooting lane so not sure how truthful that is.
I can vouch for the Astoria Range in Soledad that's where I go like he said they don't care as long as you're being safe and not being dumb.

What do you think of the Kaw Valley Precision 5.7 ounce buffer which is .2 ounces heavier than the Heavy Buffers 5.5 ounces?
And what about mixing the KVP 5.7 ounce with the Heavy Buffers spring; instead of using the heavy buffers 5.5 ounce buffer?

So, after seeing that video, would you trust an Aero m5 for serious use/defense; once you have gotten past or tuned the kinks or gremlins, that needed to be worked out?

The bolt catch set screw and handguard set screw could be loctited. The firing pin issue; just use a different bcg or a Wilson combat firing pin…….

The ATLAS handguard was kind of meant to be a more light weight handguard compared to their enhanced handguard for the m5e1 upper which is beefier and has more screws securing the handguard; same for the AR-15 Atlas vs enhanced handguard. The atlas is more slim and gets the hand closer to the barrel but exposes the hand closer to heat……but then you could just get a handguard heat wrap…..

The factory aero barrel in the complete upper is supposedly a heavy barrel; which technically would be good for prolonged firing. However if looking for precision; maybe change it out to a sons of liberty gun works precision barrel instead of a SOLGW combat barrel?

If you have access to camp pendleton shooting range, you can go full auto suppressed sbr if you own them. I don't own any, but have seen other shooters and have tried other shooters guns.

Personally no, but I’m also just a guy on the internet with an opinion so take that as you will. If I really wanted a legit battle rifle I’d buy an LMT Mars-H lower, and then save for the upper.

Just go with Clint. What he recommends will be tuned for your particular setup.

I watched that video when it came out. It wouldn't and didn't change my mind. Pull a bandolier of Radway, then MEN, Aussie or Lake City. Note how your individual setup behaves at a given round count with hotter/dirtier/etc lots. I want to see what contributes to me kicking a bolt open or field stripping a rifle to pogo a cleaning rod.

Behavior with my known holds is something I'll be focusing on.

I've never owned an Aero, I've owned plenty of other 7.62 battle rifles.

I've factually cooked barrels dumping cases of surplus M80 ball.

Some things are fact, like the difference btw a big block and a small block or turbo vs non-turbo car.

Other things are plain ignorance like blasting a big block + powerglide around town running errands then motherless 🐐ing about it being an overheating gas hog.

Pardon me for addressing OP's actual question. Los ALtos Rod and Gun Club recently changed their rules and now allow quick fire in all calibers on all ranges. They say as long as you are safe and on target you can shoot as many rounds as fast as you want. Heard a bunch of mag dumps there today.
