Ar9 lower options

have you tried the maxim RDB?

I have but the Mean Arms is nicer. The Maxim system made it way too hard to manipulate the gun I thought it became a liability. The ability to use standard AR sized mag with the Mean Arms setup is huge when it comes to training equipment. My AR9 mags fit all my standard AR mag pouches.

EDIT : The Maxim system felt like an aftermarket solution that works with existing setups by deadening the force at back end while the Mean Arms is a dedicated solution that reduced the amount of force traveling back. I'm also running an Unrival dead blow buffer made for the Mean Arms upper. I think most people will be fine with the Maxim but I wanted one AR9 that's superior to the rest so I went with the Mean Arms.

Now....I don't think this is for everyone because how expensive it is and the amount of lead time it takes BUT, BUT, BUT if you have a registered AR lower and you only wish to have one AR9 to rule them all then this definitely for you. The smoothness and the logistical advantages from this setup is very hard to beat.

I was just curious how much nicer, I've tried a JP5 side by side and the JP was maybe 10% better, fairly negligible for the cost. I personally don't find it that hard to charge it even on stages where the magazine starts out of the rifle but I can see why some people don't like it.

I haven't tried the JP5 and I don't think I will considering the cost. But if I find a nice cougar then that might change.

Foxtrot Mike is coming out with a bufferless 9mm front charging setup and I think that might be it for most people who wants a step up from the simple blowback. These unique roller delayed options are really expensive to be just plinkers.

oh ok, I hadn't heard of the FM bufferless 9mm, I wonder how they are doing it. Their bufferless AR15 was kinda janky from what I heard. on the low end it's hard to beat the maxim, everything else is 10x the price

It comes up once in a while on their instagram story and I think it's coming out late Q3 or early Q4. I'm thinking probably a compact action of a short like an AR18 derivative of some kind. My QC10 Colt lower has been waiting for something that isn't a direct blowback so I'm probably gonna buy one and throw a folding stock on it.

Agreed on the Maxim. It's the simplest plug and play solution for some who already has an AR9.

I have a build with Mean Arm’s bearing delayed upper on a standard AR lower using ejector-less mags and it’s on a completely different level of smoothness compared to the traditional blowback guns. I even kicked my MPX to the curb.
Awesome! I have the upper, a registered ARP lower and a ton of high quality parts. Missing is the time to build it out! 😎

How long did you wait to get the Mean ARs upper??
I think mine took about 5-6 months. I was worried they wouldn't ship mine by 12-31-25., so I reached out and explained SB704 would end up costing me more time and money. They said they would do their best and sure enough it arrived on December 31st! 👍🏼😅

Good for you !!! You handled the issue well imo and they handled it well. 🍺🍺

What did the epc9 need and what were the issues?
Epc9 issues were mostly resolved outside of the new ones they added.
•Mag release didnt keep magazines high enough to feed properly - resolved with Macon Arms epc mag release replacement
•Feed cone - resolved by Aero
•Buffer - replaced with Macon Deadblow buffer.
