Behold the Sig Sauer P32011

why they didnt just make a double stack p210 ill never know
The Swiss developers of the 210 tried that, probably in the 40s. It was rejected. I don't know why. But remember that magazine capacity was not considered that important until about the 70s or 80s, when the "plastic fantastics" (starting with Glock) suddenly offered 15- and 17-round capacity. Before that, for half a century military and police were perfectly happy with 6 to 8 round on their handguns.

staccato already has the ridiculously priced 2011 market cornered. lol
If Sig can sell a mass-produced inexpensive gun at Staccato prices, they will make a lot of money. So jumping on the bandwagon of today's "shiny new object" makes financial sense for them. And as we know from Sig-USA's history, the new pistol doesn't have to function well to be sold.

It looks like they turned their design over to AI generation. "Make a 2011, but from Sig, and make it require proprietary parts that will be incompatible with any other generations of the same platform."

I feel like they could've done so much better with their 2011. It seems like they're just so underwhelming right now.

I recently found a Rock Island Tac Ultra for $499.
I may fit a bull barrel and a reverse plug setup into one and a better sear and disconnector and call it done.
It will shoot as good as any $2500+ gun for $1000 and take $35 20rd 9mm Mec-Gar mags.

For $2600+ price range, I think there are better options out there. What about Staccato P4, perhaps?

OA Defense 2311
Talk about ugly! I would be embarrassed to pull that thing to defend myself. On the other hand, the assailant would probably be disarmed by puking so hard when he saw it that I'd be able to kick him in the balls and grab his weapon instead of shooting him. Of course it's all subjective, just a matter of personal preference.

Odd. It takes 320 mags and has the damn compensator. I don’t get the combo of comp and extended frame. If I wanted to use it for LO division, the comp has to come off and probably would need to trim the frame to fit. The comp is too small for Open and would have to be replaced. I guess it’s good for a poseur gun.
Yeah, we see it in rifles all the time...Manufacturers come out with models that have conflicting features, like a 20" barrel on a magnum cartridge.

So what you're saying is that as a gunsmith, you can take a $500 gun and customize it to shoot as accurately and reliably and be as durable as a Dan Wesson or something in that range. If that's the case, you could probably carve out a good chunk of market share from DW and the rest in that category, and bury Sig and Kimber.

Wondering why they only show it with extended mags. If anything ruins the looks of it, to me its the extended mag. No good to us in Calif anyway, even if we could get one via a PPT.

Shiny new objects and mission creep on models like the 365 seems to be their thing lately. The original idea of the 365, a 16oz 3.1" barrel pocket pistol capable of holding 10 rounds was almost revolutionary and has a specific role. Then they came out with about 20 variations which drifted away from that. They are making a lot of money from that.

Hayes Custom was doing that for a while. It worked pretty well to supplement them to supplement their full custom 1911 and 2011 builds.

I think this Sig's feeble hail mary to get what's left of their loyal followers to buy this so they can use their 320 mags and 💩can the pistol. I wouldn't doubt if Sig eventually goes under. This is all the current CEO's fault for the way they have been handling the gorilla in the room.

Yes.
It's just a matter of knowing the platform and doing the checks and tuning.
$500 1911's are ASSEMBLED with lots of parts that may or may not be as good as they could be.
The hand fitting and QC done on the $2500 guns is what makes them so much more reliable, accurate and expensive.
Every 1911 has the same reliability/accuracy as the $2500+ guns available to it with some parts replaced and hand fitted.
