How much do they charge for PPT?Bullseye Bishop on Meridian in San Jose is my go place for PPT. Just did one 3 weeks ago there. I’ve done 4 there in the past. Great guys and you just sign in when you get there and they go in order.
The amount charged for PPT is set by state law, and no FFL can increase it above $10, in addition to the $37.xx that go to the state. A PPT is when both buyer and seller are California residents, and both show up at the FFL.How much do they charge for PPT?
I hella appreciate the breakdown my boy. I’m gonna call a few places tomorrow for prices. The amount charged for PPT is set by state law, and no FFL can increase it above $10, in addition to the $37.xx that go to the state. For a non-PPT transfer (for example for a gun coming from out of state or from another dealer), the FFL can charge whatever they want. I've heard that Bullseye Bishop is around $100 or 10% of the value of the firearm, whichever is higher. If my memory serves me right, UG Imports is $100; RMB Enterprises is $80, and Farwest Photography is $60, but please call and verify those fees (they may have increased them since the last time I used them). And to be honest, I don't remember whether those numbers include the $37.xx for the state or not.
And in all that, remember that the FFL may be required to collect California sales tax. Sometimes people mix that with the transfer fee (which is where a lot of stories about "9% of the value of the gun" come from).
This is all true. But here in SoCal, I've noticed a new trend of places charging "storage fees". Or they'll do something where they only offer PPT on specific days. The amount charged for PPT is set by state law, and no FFL can increase it above $10, in addition to the $37.xx that go to the state. I live close to there but if I lived in the south bay I don't think I would want to drive that far, unless of course the gun was being sold by someone in the area. I'm curious why you think it's worth such a long drive for a PPT?Not in Santa Clara but worth the drive, Glaser Arms in Brentwood. $50 bucks for PPT or FFL, I drive from the Central Valley to use them.
Which FFL charges storage fees? Name and shame. I am pretty sure storage fees is not legal. This is all true. But here in SoCal, I've noticed a new trend of places charging "storage fees". Or they'll do something where they only offer PPT on specific days.
All of the LGS in my area charge $150 for a transfer. Glaser also isn’t a pretentious jerk, he’s quick and he gets you in and out.I live close to there but if I lived in the south bay I don't think I would want to drive that far, unless of course the gun was being sold by someone in the area. Those are good reasons! All of the LGS in my area charge $150 for a transfer. Glaser also isn’t a pretentious jerk, he’s quick and he gets you in and out.
Outdoor Sportsman in Stockton charges a $30/day storage fee on any PPT that is not picked up on the 10th day (or first available if 10th falls on a closed day). I was the seller in that situation and did the transfer there at the buyer's request but I thought that was absurd.Which FFL charges storage fees? Name and shame.
