A note on why more of the site now requires an account: automated scrapers and AI systems have been crawling our forums and classifieds at a scale. Requiring sign-in for those sections is the most effective tool we have. It takes a minute to register, it's free, and it keeps what happens here between actual members.

lol. So it is. Completely forgot about that. Best thing to do is to just duplicate what is listed there. Not sure what you mean? Your occupation is already listed on your permit.
That now has me thinking. If I change jobs do I need to update my permit? I’d probably call the officer they used to process my permit to be on the safe side. Also forgot that is on the permit as well.Lol when or if you ever get your CCW you'll see they list that. Since I'm self employed it's just my address twice
I'm putting either "professional ragebaiter", "tactical autist" or "unemployed college student"SUBJECT: New “Occupation” Field in the Dealer Record of Sale (DROS) Entry System (DES)
PURPOSE
This advisory provides notice to California firearms dealers that in compliance with California Penal Code section
28160, subdivision (a)(26), beginning Thursday, August 27, 2026, the DES will require that a firearm dealer
enter the purchaser’s occupation for all firearm DROS transactions. If the purchaser has no occupation, the
dealer may enter “None.”
BACKGROUND
Penal Code section 28160 requires that the register or record of electronic transfer include specified purchaser
information, including the purchaser’s occupation. To ensure full compliance with this statutory requirement, the
DES has been enhanced to include a mandatory “occupation” field for all firearm DROS transactions submitted
on or after August 27, 2026. Dealers must obtain and accurately enter this information to complete and submit a
firearm DROS transaction. Incomplete entries will prevent successful submission of the transaction.
There is no social security number on the dros. You are mixing it up with the federal 4473All kidding aside, what if you put "none" and your background check somehow comes up with an employer. You sign the form stating "all information is true" could they deny your DROS?
They added Social Security number (which I do not fill in) now adding this. Overreach for sure!
So they can do a research of whos going crazy. Remember the old saying "going postal"Why do they want to know what we do for work?
Ayyyyyyy Que Onda Way. Eating good and the wind won’t blow you away.Torta Hunter.![]()
yesdoes putting a false occupation count as lying on state forms and get you in trouble![]()
