AB 3067 reporting requirements of insurance companies is a Huge red flag and should scare Everyone, including liberals. This one passed and signed by Newscum is Very bad for everyone including liberals.

Someone else posted about this above but the new Section 25145 added to the Penal Code says:

(3) “Readily controlled” by a person or another lawful authorized user means either of the following:
(A) The person or other lawful authorized user is carrying the firearm on their person.
(B) The person or other lawful authorized user is within close enough proximity to the firearm to readily prevent unauthorized users from gaining access to the firearm.


To me this says you are in violation if you are sleeping and someone steals your gun. As long as you are closer than anyone trying to steal it you wouldn't be in violation. Just spitballing here, you have a gun on your kitchen table, police come to your door about an unrelated thing and see your gun unlocked and out of the safe. If you are between them and the gun you shouldn't be in violation. If you then also authorize them to access the firearm you would not be in violation.
 
Reminds me of an episode of this show called The Expanse. One of characters was trying to make his way to a ship I think so he can escape back to space. He came across a guarded cabin, by a sniper. Sniper told him to undress to make sure he isn't armed. After stripping to his underoos, he yells out "unless you think I got a gun up my ass, I think we're good." Random thought, but hilarious.
 
Just remember, YOU don’t have to be in proximity of the firearm. The statute allows an “authorized user” to fill that role.

(I’m still working through the concept of the lawful owner lawfully authorizing the authorized individual.)

As used in Sections 25105, 25135, and 25145, “authorized user” means an individual who is not prohibited by state or federal law from possessing, receiving, owning, or purchasing a firearm and who meets either of the following requirements:

(a) The individual is the lawful owner of the firearm.

(b) The individual has been lawfully authorized by the lawful owner of the firearm to access, possess, and use the firearm.

It's even more interesting trying to figure out how someone could be found violating these stupid laws. smh
