CCW Contra Costa County

Do local police or any LE have access to the database which reflects if CCW holders have requalified with their RDS on their existing license?

I suppose I just don’t see how they will reinforce the requal. My assumption is absolute worst case, they check the serial of the firearm during a stop, and that it matches your CCW card.
It’s a possibility where the new permit might say something such as; optic qualified, optic ok, WML qualified, or WML ok.

I really hope they don’t go as far as documenting the specific optic and specific light on the permit.

No I drew from 12 o clock.
Good to know; thanks. Going to give that a test trial next time I go; since now all it says online is hip worn, and nothing about 3 or 9 ‘o clock anymore. Hopefully this will save on needing to buy OWB holster.

Everyone I qualified with all wore OWB holsters or only one person qualified with IWB but at 3 o clock.

I drew from 12 o clock too. They didn’t like it, but they let it slide and placed me at the very left of all the qualifiers

I got no comments from the testing person whatsoever and was placed in the middle of the firing line. I guess it depends on who you get.

@kmoros Will CoCoSo be required to email all permittees about the policy change? What about for the folks that havnt heard about the lawsuit?

We didn't get into that nitty gritty, especially as thanks to Boland, there are so many guns that come factory-ready for red dots.

By my read of the agreement, guns milled for slides should fall within it, as long as you don't do other modifications. But let me know if they give you any trouble and I'll reach out and see if we can work that out with them too.

Personally, I wouldn't even mention it's a milled gun, as they may not even be bothered by it unless you draw attention to it.
So, would “other modifications” include cutting the rear irons to be in front of optic instead of just an optic cut with rear irons behind optic?

Well, it's the 18th and the policy is the same as it has been on the CCC CCW page. I am going to water a guess that they are going to drag ass with this as much as possible.

It looks like CCCSD updated the CCW page but only to clarify that hip mount holsters are the only ones allowed. It's dated 2025 but without a month attached. I took my qual in April 2025 and was able to use my AIWB.

If anyone is going to qual soon, can you let us know if they say AIWB is still ok?

Good news, I have email confirmation from a representative with the CCCSD that aftermarket slide cuts are good to go.
