Question Diesel Shortage looks imminent.. What are you stocking up on?

Some companies such as Frito-Lay have already purchased Tesla semitrucks for their fleet. They're still few in number but they're long range (up to 500 miles) and with center-seating for the driver like a McLaren F1.

They'll probably drive themselves at some point like any other Tesla with FSD. These trucks don't use gas or diesel as they're all electric. Tesla is still building out the charging infrastructure for these trucks like they did for their cars, though with cars most owners charge at home for daily use.

For sure. this is why my household transportation is split between a truck and a tesla. The truck does truck things, the tesla does daily driving and acts as insulation against gasoline prices since electricity prices are relatively stable. It's also cheap to charge at superchargers between midnight and 8:00am if home charging isn't possible for people living in apartments.

If I needed a truck more often I'd buy one, but my M3P is paid-off. I rented the long-range Cybertruck from Turo (wrapped in black as shown) for two days and it's a marvel with the adjustable height, steer-by-wire, 0-60 in 4 seconds, and four-wheel steering. The auto open/close frunk is a great place to store cased firearms, and the locking tonneau cover is so much better than an open bed.

When it comes to trucks, I’ll stick to my Ram. We have a Model Y as well and the self driving feature can’t be beat for commuting in LA traffic.

To my knowledge the newer Nissan GTR is the only fat ass 'Torta' that deserves the title of performance. Even the heavy Bugatti recognizes they are for top end speed not cornering precision. Teslas may be viable or popular in your drag circles but I have yet to see them corner or even brake with decent results. Maybe when Elon figures out the lateral thruster system I'll consider them closer to a race car. We'd be very well off if Tesla drivers (aka the new age BMW driver) could be as intelligent as their cars and maybe even use their signal - sadly we are not even remotely close. I appreciate Tesla's attempt at automated driving though.

To be on topic, not everyone is able to afford a solar array paired with complicated formula batteries. Personally I'd rather follow Bob Lazar if I had the chance with a solar array and consistent water supply for hydrogen fuel production. Splitting hydrogen and trying to address hydrogen embrittlement seems like a better long term solution than mining for the rare elements. Hydrogen embrittlement is a troublesome hurdle to overcome but I think the juice is worth the squeeze.
