I live in OC we can have unlimited guns on ours. Im reading so man7 of your who can only ha e 3? Where fo you all live at that restrict you.

I have decided on my next renewal to only do 3 as it is no longer worth it to do so many. Pretty much only 3 have left the house in the last year.

San Francisco. Having six or eight would be very helpful. Of course, the gun shouldn't be tied to the permit at all, but at least more than three would give me more flexibility.

Don't do it. Put all eight on there. Just make them more purpose driven. Group them by purpose. If you have less than eight, then buy a duplicate gun as a backup. Eliminate the extras.

If you objectively look at this list, you pretty much have the same gun on there. That means their purposes are identical. You could replace almost all of them with the Glock 19 and Glock 26. Those two guns would cover 95% of your concealed carry 9mm needs. Add in the DB380 (you actually bought one?!?!?!?) -- or swap it for a Ruger LCP Max -- and now your urban needs are met.


9mm - Service size
Glock 19

9mm - Small carry
SIG P365
Glock 26 ( <--- still probably the best carry 9mm available today despite the skinny 9s like the P365)
SIG P365 XL ( <-- duplicate; can you swap out slides and grip modules? )

Pocket Carry
Ruger LCP Max (replaces DB380)


Dump the XD's, FMK and DB380. Upgrade the 380 to a Ruger LCP Max and use that as your pocket carry. Fill in the list with duplicates in case of mechanical failure, loss, etc.

You could really pare it down to just four guns with duplicates:

Glock 26
Some pocket 380
Large service pistol in 45 or 10mm (since capacity is limited to 10 anyway)
Revolver for hiking/outdoors

Then duplicate the guns so you have a backup.

Does your licensing agency allow you to change your SIG P365? It may make a lot of sense to put two FCU's on the permit and run them as needed. However, do keep in mind the P365 is susceptible to breakage and you'll want to keep the round count low AND keep spare parts in your toolbox. The Glock 26 is superior in this respect, but I certainly understand the desire to use the narrow P365. Understand the P365's limits and perform regular preventive maintenance.

Assuming you can change your P365, then perhaps:

Small Carry
SIG P365
SIG P365 XL

Pocket Carry
Small 380

Service/Outdoors
Glock 20 or 29

At this point, you're down to two P365 FCU's that you can mix and match to meet your needs. You can supplement with the 380 and carry the 10mm with hot ammo (Buffalo Bore or Underwood with 357 Magnum ballistics).

The remaining guns can just be duplicates. Maybe add in your Glock 19 and 26, with two spare slots for duplicates.

You can even pare it down farther:

2xGlock 26
2xSmall 380
2xGlock in 10mm

Then just duplicate those and add two for variety (or add the P365 FCU's).

Hah! I didn't carry my P320 much (even prior to all of the self-discharge issues this year) throughout my license period. It was too much of a "Gucci Sig" to be carried around. The funny thing is, when my IA called to follow up on my renewal, he scarcastically asked, "are you still going to renew the P320 on your CCW...?". I told him, "hell no..."

I'm in the same boat - the idea of being limited to 3 firearms sucks, but in reality, I'd only carry roughly 2 or 3 of my handguns. This renewal period, I'm removing one and adding a different one so only 2 for me.

Heh. I carry almost all of mine and I have many, many guns.

It seems completely silly to me to have to qualify with a Glocks 19 Gen 3, 4, and 5 separately despite being the same gun. It also makes no sense to have to qualify with a 629 4" and 629 3", or even between a Glock 19 and a CZ P10C. This is all nonsense.
