I wonder what a highly customized one would go for? I have a Gen3 19 with custom milling from Applied Kinetics, custom and very nice stippling, Apex trigger, green camo cerakote on slide, magwell, and trigger, and gold TiN Agency barrel. Been a safe queen mostly but it has some sentimental value.

I hear a lot of folks think there are better options than a Glock. I stopped looking at what was new technology about 12ish years ago and settled on Sigs and Glocks. Go read Paradox of Choice and how trying to find the best causes folks to be unhappy no matter what they choose. Glock is a good gun. The one thing it really had going for it is that it has a long track record of reliability; part of why I really hated when they did the new rail design. They fit my hand just fine. Do they cost more than other polymer striker fired pistols? Sure, then again, Honda’s and Toyota’s cost more than Kia’s. I know of one article that came out about 15ish years ago in which the individual had 250,000 rounds through his G17 and hadn’t cleaned it in 100,000 rounds. Is a Glock the best? I don’t know. It works and has an excellent track record.

Also, I’m 57 years old. By now, I have more than I need from a hobby and self defense perspective. I’d rather spend my hobby budget on ammo, training, and shooting on the range. From what a new pistol costs, I can easily buy over a 1,000 rounds of 9 mm or enough ammo and a local training class. I’ve got another hobby that could be the same way with shinny new items; I don’t golf but golf is another example. The job of marketing is to make you want to go buy the newest and best item no matter the hobby. I have a 10 year old car, do new cars have better features. Sure. However, mine does all that I want. I plan to drive that car till it completely wears out and beyond what is logical. As my dad puts it, the sales tax alone on a new vehicle gets you a lot repairs on your current vehicle. America is a very consumer spending driven economy. Hard not to want to the new newest things. Ok, rant over.

I’m taking advantage of those wanting the Gen3 by selling mine off. Then on the other side im buying gen5 at the lowest I’ve seen them go. I sold my gen 3 19 for $650 and picked up gen 5 19 for $800. Also picked up a gen 5 21 for 800

Less than stock. Like everything custom. it’s custom to you. Unless someone wants exactly what you want they have to undo everything you did.

can confirm. Just moved from DFW. glocks everywhere, selling less then MSRP by a decent amount. I’ve shot all the 9mm/45acp gen 4’s and 5’s. They are not impressive. Had and sold a G41,43,43x. Back before I left CA had and sold gen3 17,19,34 and 21. They were cheap and easy to get into and out of. But i’ve never like any of them.

Sh guys read my last sentence maybe I should have used stronger language. All I was saying was we had to start somewhere and Gaston was our starting point.

Glock has a big advantage in ecosystem. Holsters, magazines, sights, triggers, after market parts etc.
Sig is the next closest and catching up quickly IMO.

Other guns that are bettter will not have the same availability and options for parts.

If we don't hear any announcement from Glock by September this year, I would probably assume Gen 6 not coming to CA.
Even if it does, it's probably going to have a loaded chamber indicator, mag disconnect, and manual safety - parts may not be interchangeable.

The litmus test is simple: before anyone starts seriously talking about a Gen 6 roster path, we first need to see a Gen 3 return with Gen V internals. That’s the next logical step not Gen 6.

If Glock can leverage existing grandfathered certifications and bring back a Gen 3 based gun with updated trigger internals (in this scenario they don't need to deal with CLI and magazine disconnect) why would they rush to introduce a Gen 6 that would face an entirely different set of roster hurdles (drop tests, cruciform trigger compliance AND CLI and magazine disconnect).

Until that happens Gen 6 is a long way off.

As for Gen 3 pricing ignore the wishful-thinking listings. Gen 3 frenzy peaked last Feb.

They could put the glock performance trigger in the gun to delete the cruciform trigger. If memory serves, it still has a "trigger safety".

If gen 6, hopefully will put the LCI and writing in that small piece behind the extractor. And the mag disconnect could be done similar to the shadow systems.

That would make the same gun as free states with just 2-3 small parts different. Hopefully that's the route they go so they don't need california specific slides, Barrels, or frames.

The CA compliant PDP seems to have all the same parts as a normal one, save for the magazine disconnect. Not sure why Glock would have to wildly change it or is that some part of the ban?
