Glock or Smith?

Having struggled with Concealing vs Comfort vs Competence, I’m going to go out on a limb and say:
- Body size / Hand size matters +50%
- Holster matters +30%
- Gun matters -20%

Most any gun will do the job for CCW, IF matched with the right holster for a body size.

Hijacking the Saab thread yet again

Forget all these little girl pistols and carry a PDP Compact or a VP9K
My new Shield X is definitely not on the level of my PDP Pro F or my PDP Compact, but will likely be my third option. I actually brought my Pro F 3.5 to the range to shoot along with the Shield X, it's still my fave by far.

the PDP pro f is a LOT bigger, of course it shoots better

It's a lot bigger, it's a quarter inch wider, 4 oz heavier and a lot more grip space for support hand, it's comparable to compact guns vs subcompact. I don't even F- with subcompact guns any more because it's just too small and the shooting experience is very different than a compact where there is actually room for support hand vs just crushing your fingertips

Unless you really like Glock, I'm not sure why anyone would choose to go with them nowadays. We can talk about track record and reliability all day, but there are plenty of other options out there that perform just as well.

Then there's the question of aftermarket support. Glock is unparalled in this front, but how much aftermarket do you really need? And if you're making a bunch of changes to it, then did you really like your Glock to begin with?

For me, I bought a Glock 19.3. Took a Dremel for an undercut, got it stippled, threw on a Kiral backstrap, put on an SCD, and replaced the slide with an OEM MOS slide. It barely feels like a Glock now. And what did I end up doing? Bought a PDP, removed mag disconnect, and mounted a red dot and added some defgrip tape. I barely train with my G19 now.

My vote is M&P and call it a day
