Not me, but when a buddy of mine first got into guns, he bought two: an XD9 and Sig SP2022. He proceeds to tell me “they are Glock killers”
He traded in his SP2022 because it was so bad and unreliable (did not cycle most ammo)
He still has his XD9 and swears by it, but it’s the crappiest gun I’ve ever shot (next to the SP2022 and Ruger Max9) and the first time he shot my Glock, he said only better because “I have a lot of upgrades” but I only have upgraded the trigger to a timney with a ported slide and barrel… he has an aftermarket trigger for his XD9 from a no name company and it doesn’t even compare

ps90 and Styer AUG.

PS90 was ergonomic nightmare, ammo was very expensive, parts were expensive, trigger was terrible, recoiled way to hard, bottom ejection sucks for anything but standing, due to the “floating barrel” it was crap outside of 25 yards.

Aug everything but ammo cost and bottom ejection. it was more accurate, but any factory AR runs circles around it.

Sold both long before I moved back and honestly am glad I didn’t even have to think about trying to convert them to CA complaint.

Fusion Firearms full size ported and comped.
Nothing but issues with that gun.
Sent it back, they said they fixed it. They did not.
Ended up taking it to a local gunsmith who was able to fix it.
Then I sold it for a loss

For me, it was a Remington 870 Express. I bought it not knowing about Remington's QC issues (I was not very familiar with firearms at the time). Damn thing had so many light primer strikes regardless of shell type and brand. Eventually, I sold it and settled for a Maverick 88. Cheaper finish, but it ran better. Eventually, I sold that one and upgraded again to a Mossberg 590S. I've considered buying an older 870 Wingmaster. I've heard they're buttery smooth, but I'm more skeptical about Remington after that experience.

I wanted an 870 as my first shotgun because I look the look of them but have read about the issues in recent times, everyone recommends an older 870 if thats what you really want.

At this point I think I will just get a Maverick or Mossberg instead both for price and reliability wise.

The Maverick 88 is pretty solid. James from TFP did a torture test on it, and it survived. In my experience, it ran pretty well with every shell I used. The Mossberg 590S is even better, albeit pricier. The biggest difference is the location of the safety and the finish.

They'll have surface wear from being taken in/out of the patrol car, but the internals have been polished and smoothed out from the constant loading/unloading and racking of the slide. Just a joy to use.

I got a 90’s 870 police from GunBroker. LOVE it. The police models are more robust. Express have some cheaper components. Also, was bought out numerous times over the last couple decades which is probably when QC took a dump. I don’t even think they are in production anymore??

I upgraded to Hogue furniture and got a 26” hunting barrel so have defense and clay shooting options.

I'll definitely keep that in mind. I always thought the LE trade in 870s looked neat. I saw one with a folding stock that looked badass.

Yes, exactly like that! And yeah, I figured lol. I had a Maverick with a folding stock, and it kicked like a mule. I eventually swapped it for a standard stock. I'll see what I can source on Gunbroker, hopefully there's a solid LE trade-in 870. Until then, my Mossberg 590S serves well enough. The 870 is more of a retro desire I want. Old LE trade-ins always fascinated me, revolvers, Berettas, etc.

I'm not sure which Steyr you refer to but in the 1980s I bought a Steyr GB, which in theory with a fixed 5" barrel should have been an awesomely accurate pistol. When I took it to the range, my little Smith and Wesson 469 with a 3.5" barrel could outshoot it every time. Maybe it was just me twitching as I shot it or something, but I sold that gun after a couple of months.

I had a Steyr m9. Omg what a piece of trash. FTF 4 out of 10 every time. Trigger freeze when going fast. And the sights in theory were cool but only if you think in triangles.

Not terrible per se but I got in deep on the cz 75 train. At a time I had like 6 different variants . I didn't shoot them that well . Made a decision that I wouldn't give it the time to learn the da sa style of trigger to my liking. Striker fired pistols are simpler in operation , for me. For defense purposes I wanted stupid simple. Nice pistols (czs) but over the years ended up selling all of them . Ergonomics were good don't get me wrong but it wasn't off the charts as the interwebs would have you believe .

FN SLP Mk1 always short strokes on cheap shells. Got it after they stopped selling it with both the light and regular piston. Wanted to love it, supposedly the fastest semi auto shotgun at the time

Walther PPK. It’s still a good carry piece and will always be cool, but the trigger is awful, the slide will bite you, and the recoil from a straight blowback .380 is unpleasant.
