If you sell a complete slide at an FFL, what is the fee and what is required?

Whoever is downvoting you is completely wrong. Slides don't need FFL only the barrel in this instance and this "$20" fee is completely ridiculous.
Slide no, "complete slide/upper" usually includes the barrel, meaning Ready-to-Run. $20 is arbitrary, some FFL's will do it for free and say go ahead while they're there. There's no paperwork requirement as far as I'm aware.

Haha, NOPE!

You can look at it however you want but if I (or anyone else) purchased a "COMPLETE SLIDE" from you or anywhere else and there was no barrel, we'd have a problem.

I agree with just about everything you post but I'm going to call total BS on this one.

Guess you’ll have to get angry at CZ and Sig Sauer

We just going full delusion mode today

Complete upper assembly:

Can do this all day lol

Maybe you buddy, but a complete slide is a complete slide. If your distributer is ripping you off by selling you a complete slide that is not complete that it on you.

I do enjoy your enjoy your engagements in the thread though.

You need to find some new vendors bro..

It says stripped, not complete.. I also sold this slide, it was a bit snappy. I have one for the G34 though still..

You beat me to it, but I do enjoy Gawernator's candor in the forum, even when he's wrong.

This thread is about the cost of a FFL transfer of a "complete slide", not nator's interpretation of one.

Matt

No they don’t lol a barrel is a separate component that is not attached to the slide. The slide assembly does not include a barrel:

Can be sold with barrel included of course. But if you’re gonna be that specific you should say barrel included since it’s a legal issue now.

If they “always” come with a barrel then why do many complete slide assemblies not?

Choose your words more accurately in the future.
Nope, not going to out-pedant me!

Nowhere in that description is the word 'complete'. I would argue those are "SLIDE ASSEMBLIES" which do not come with barrels.
Search google for "Complete slides" and only slides with barrels will come up

However, upon further research, it does appear that a SINGLE BRAND, Sig, calls them 'complete slides' without barrels.

I would continue to argue that the common parlance is 'complete slides' come with barrels.

Edit: Upon searching Ebay for "Sig Complete Slides" the majority do come with barrels, including some marked as OEM. So even Sig is inconsistent.
2nd Edit: I checked and another brand Walther, specifically calls out complete slides including the barrels.

3rd Edit:

I retract my previous comment. Even SIG refers to them as COMPLETE SLIDES when they include the barrel: https://www.sigsauer.com/p320-xfive-complete-slide-adjustable-rear-sight-pro-cut.html

Which if you read my original comment you’ll see that I stated some listings do include a barrel. Upper assembly is the most descriptive terminology

Ok, I have some real world info to add to the thread:

I called both Duncan's Gunworks and Turners in San Marcos and asked about a "complete slide" FFL transfer and they both told me they don't have a way to do a "transfer" for that......

WTF!!

I'm at a loss for words at this point..

Dude, quit linking to stuff I want. It really hurts.

Ok, my 2 cents or "other question". When it states "has to be transferred to FFL", does that mean the FFL can receive it and hand it to you after "verifying" it is you?

Nator, I don't know if you're laughing at me for calling or laughing at how ridiculous this state is??

Either way, the hilarious thing in this thread is that you thinking a "complete slide/upper" does not include a barrel..

Jokes on you Jack!

Matt

Like $20, I bought a complete geissele upper and got it delivered to my ffl and they charged $20 to release it to me.

That was already stated but who really knows what's goin on in this state..

Edit: but every FFL is different so YMMV

I would ask them 'Can you help me transfer a barrel'

The rest of the slide is just accessories and not legally controlled.

I would also not recommend using Turner's for transfers. I have had problems at various Turner's around the state with transfers, and only ever had an issue at a single other FFL in my dozens of transfers over the years. Buying from Turners is fine, but using them for ammo/PPT/any transfer is in my opinion not worth the time and trouble.

I hear you on Turners, those were just the 2 closest gun stores to me, that's why I called them.

They both had the same exact answer so that tells you something about the situation..

Matt

If I posted the listing with "FFL won't transfer, meet up or ship" I'd get banned.

If I post the question, there is still no resolution to the issue.

CA Sucks!
