Illegal configuration .

Is it a dhic move to let people know when their firearm is in an illegal configuration . I see it quite often . I let a couple dudes know and both got angry about it . For me , if i was incriminating myself on the web id want to be pulled aside and told i was making a mistake before the MAN found out . What do yall think ?

It is wrong in English to add a space before ending punctuation such as a period or question mark when you bother to use one. You should also capitalize proper nouns and use punctuation for contractions, such as I'd, or y'all.

You know when someone is driving like a complete idiot and cuts you off and you honk because you just about killed them and then they get mad at you for honking even though they were completely in the wrong? That's just how people are. I agree with you though, at the very least it's a reminder to not put evidence of your crimes on a public forum.

At the end of the day it comes down to personality types. Some will be grateful and some will want you to MYOB. I’m in the MYOB group but as long as someone isn’t being a know it all or a jerk when pointing something out, no harm no foul.

Yeah I get that. I’m the type that would want someone to tell me, so I’ll do the same for others. If I were to say anything to anyone, it’d be via a question first or phrase in a way that’s not know-it-all or condescending.

I don’t honk at people unless it will actively avoid an accident. Especially now that I carry, there is nothing to be gained. I take a deep breath and think about how maybe the person is late for work or rushing to see their sick loved one, and how I probably have made driving mistakes in the past.

Giving someone an FYI on an illegal configuration is different, it’s not involving you as a party to a conflict so there is no animosity involved.

It can come in different ways. If the RO asks because you were reported then if it’s legit you keep going. If not they send you home. If you get an overly strict LEO next to you and you’re being a douche you can be questioned.

If you’re a dumbass with a FRT you can fire at least once. If no one says anything you then it’s fine. Lots of possibilities , roll the dice and choose one possibility . Usually people will let you be, but if you think people should MYOB when out in public. Then that’s not always going to happen

There are lots of stories of people taking clearly illegal weapons to ranges, shooting them, even having a polite chat with a range master, and taking them home again, with no trouble at all. I've talked to the range masters at Metcalf (who are county parks employees, although not LE), and they say that they generally ignore whether something is legal or not.

I've shot my BBRAW next to some other shooters at Metcalf, and during cease fires, they came over and told me to not worry about their lack of compliance device, because they are LE. I told them that I noticed, and was not particularly worried.

There are also stories about people getting arrested right at the range. Matter-of-fact, I think that happened at Metcalf, but (given that the Calguns forum is down, and has no functioning search), I can't find that story online right now.

The only enforcement of AW statutes (and similar, such as SBS) that I know about firsthand is always in conjunction with other crimes being committed, typically DV, stolen car, DUI.

The classic rule seems to apply about those stories of other crimes being commited causing it, dont do something illegal while you are doing something illegal

My favorite case was a "neighbor" (meaning a person who lives a few miles from me, but is personally known to me) who had possession of stolen car, no DL (taken away after a few DUIs, not alcohol but better stuff), no insurance, meth in quantities for sale, paraphernalia (like baggies and a scale), several prior felony convictions, and a sawed-off shotgun. He ended up getting 360 days in county jail, of which he served a little over 6 month, and was then moved into a drug treatment program for a few years. His background included several drug dealing convictions, several felony DUIs, one felony rape, armed robbery, and his housemate dying of an OD. He was also on the county's "most wanted" list for a while. As you can see, that one gun crime (the SBS) in there is not the most important part. Interestingly, he has since fixed up his life, found religion (!), found the correct spouse (!!), found a career (tree climber !!!), and has been clean for the last 10 or 15 years.

On the other hand, his son (who was given the fabulous first name of "Rollin Thunder", not a joke) is serving dozens of years right now.

Read some arrest logs. Look at the press releases various sheriff departments put out. In the meth-infested areas of the state, this is normal operating procedure.

The same little side-street that this guy lived on has had ... 23 years for arson, murder (we still joke about "hatchet to head", and more recently a double murder with both bodies let in the bed of a pickup on a busy public street)), several OD deaths, several "felon in possession", regular violence (ADW, fights), countless fires, car theft and a chop shop, and who knows what else.

I had tk ask me ccw instructor about my countys feeling on the sb2 sestive places and he just told me thst still on hold..... i was like now they split it down the middle and is now enforceable as of 2024 ish. I have a memo sith penal codes from a different sheriff county? And he was like well just use your good judgment concealed is concealed. Ok thanks bro. And i paided for that. Lol

Like i have a ffl thats busing flux chassis p365 and im like doesnt that next mag holder check one of the AW boxes and he was ljke nope its just a holder now a mag well or vertical grip. It my understanding if it not barrel shrouded and no extra mag or vert grip the flux is grey.
