Is the Walter PDP here yet?

I'm having second thoughts about carrying a PDP compact. Two reasons:

First, after 100 rounds and a bunch of dry fire the trigger pull is averaging three and a half pounds. That's great for punching the centers out of B8 targets, not so great for the street. Great trigger, I'm just not real comfortable with it being that light. It's a full pound lighter than my well-worn G26.

Second, looks like it isn't going to be real easy to conceal that very angular slide. I only have one holster right now that it sort of fits in, a leather rig for a full-size USP45. It prints under a light jacket, especially the top rear corner of the slide which has a pretty abrupt edge. Can't make it disappear no matter how I adjust it. And that's before adding an optic. Now I have no problem carrying the USP 45 in that same holster, even though it's bigger than the PDP the USP doesn't print at all.

So I think the PDP is going to be a range toy, where that light trigger is an advantage and where it's no danger to anything except a piece of paper. If I did competition (which I don't) it would be great for that too. Sticking to hammer-fired HK's and a G26 with SCD for carry.

Pretty sure you can make it heavier by putting in a heavier return spring. That said it has a trigger safety so it's not going off unless the trigger is pulled.

The single-action match trigger on my USP Elite is 3 lbs 4 oz. Barely 4 oz lighter than my PDP. I've had it go off before I expected it to at the range, while pointed at the target. And that's under no time pressure, no stress. In a hypothetical defense situation, with a full adrenaline dump, the standard assumption is that fine motor control is affected.

The only time I've ever had to draw a pistol was after accidentally startling a pit bull associated with a homeless camp. The dog started to come at me, I had the slack out of the trigger when the dog turned around and went the other way. That was with the heavy DA pull of a USPc 9 v1. Could I have made that assess and decide not to shoot decision with a 3.5 lb trigger? Not sure, but there's a good chance the answer would have been no. With a semi-feral dog that would have been unfortunate. Imagine other potential situations though, some of them life changing for all involved.

I get what you are saying but you are saying you literally were pulling the trigger. Unless you are shooting, finger off the trigger! Don't ever prep a trigger. It literally can't go off if you finger isn't on the trigger.

The full size is easier to find magazines for.
The PDP compact shares the same mag as the PPQ M2 and Q5. There should be a lot of PPQ M2 mags out there since it was in production for about 10 years before being replaced by the PDP. This is why I'll never buy a PDP full-size. I'll want to use the PPQ mags I already have.

I guess Walther offers a PDP full-size to increase mag capacity? Doesn't really make a difference in states where there is a 10-round capacity limit. I don't really understand the need for a "full-size" grip when the "compact" grip is plenty long enough.

That's one thing I like about the PDP compact; the grip length (5.4") is in between the compact and full size versions of some other manufacturers. Enough to hang onto, a little extra room to avoid pinch on fast reloads.

I just got done looking for PDP compact and PPQ m2 mags. They are hard to find at gunmag warehouse and magshack, I had to order some from eBay for a premium, and I ordered some full size with a sleeve to fit the compact. I’m guessing that the ten round mags are being bought up by California residents.

They seem to be easy to find for me. I wouldn't go around recommending the full size to folks just because you think the mags are easier to find. The compact is a better value IMHO. If compact mags are harder to find, that might be because the compact is a better gun. A quick Google search yielded this, all in stock at this time:
Grabagun for $37.50. https://grabagun.com/walther-ppq-m2-magazine-9mm-10-rounds.html
Eurooptic for $41. https://www.eurooptic.com/walther-a...02s48pVYvGRw-yszAyAvb4oQ9wsr9b8B7kT3zLH2XzCQK
Freedom Armory for $41. https://freedomarmory.com/walther-pdp-ppq-m2-magazine-9mm-10-rd/

Walther mags aren't cheap. That's one thing the Glock has going for it, $12 mags.

Yeah I tend to shop for magazines at Mag Shack, Gunmag Warehouse, and eBay. A lot of sites list them for sale, but when you go to the site they are oos.

Started 10 day on a PDP Full Size today.

I was going to get the compact to add to my CCW but the serrations on the slide look like they’d hurt.

The full size will be a range toy. I’ll be keeping an eye out for a pro-X or match slide.

I actually like the serrations, good solid grip for manipulating the slide while so far not being uncomfortable. I just can't figure out how to conceal the thing without the corner of the slide leaving a sharp-angled crease in my jacket that looks like it was designed by a bauhaus architect.

got called that mine has arrived. funny enough I was picking a 226 mk25 at very that moment when received a call =))))
