2011's, like 1911's seem to need to be run pretty wet to be reliable in general. Not my choice for dutyThe range safety officers at my local range tell me the Staccatos they have seen suffer significant reliability issues. A small data set to be sure, but that in combination with the company abruptly terminating relationships is not endearing the company to me.
If they want to consolidate dealer networks fine. At least give them time for to clear existing inventory. To abruptly dump business associates that have worked to help build the brand, to devalue their inventory by capricious fiat is selfish at best. Who's to say they won't treat their customers similarly, if it gives a boost to the profit margin?
Why are so many precincts rocking them these days? THey give everyone a deal or its just the cool thing to have?2011's, like 1911's seem to need to be run pretty wet to be reliable in general. Not my choice for duty
Kind of depends on the 2011 in question. They're not all made the same or with the same use cases in mind. The more carry oriented ones tend to be built with slightly looser tolerances and can readily go 1k rounds without lube if they have to. They'd for sure prefer every 500 or so, but I've got beyond 1k round intervals with various Staccatos, Buls, etc.2011's, like 1911's seem to need to be run pretty wet to be reliable in general. Because they're great guns, two world wars. And most cops rarely have to shoot their guns anyways. Not like they're in extreme conditions where the gun isn't lubed and ready to go.Why are so many precincts rocking them these days? THey give everyone a deal or its just the cool thing to have?
Supposedly over 1,800 agencies use them, but as you mentioned not sure whether they’re standard issue to all deputies or something similar for all of those. Doubtful.Because they're great guns, two world wars. And most cops rarely have to shoot their guns anyways. Not like they're in extreme conditions where the gun isn't lubed and ready to go.
Also, they're not? False premise to begin with. Which departments issue Staccatos or any 2011? Standard issue to ordinary patrol across an entire agency? Less than 1%?
And yes, Staccato absolutely gives LE pricing incentives. Its current Blue Line program gives active-duty law enforcement $800 off certain Staccato HD models and 20% off other standard Staccato pistols, optic plates and magazines. So discounts are clearly part of how they penetrate the LE market.
Is that 1,800 authorized for purchase? Because that’s not the same as issued ofcSupposedly over 1,800 agencies use them, but as you mentioned not sure whether they’re standard issue to all deputies or something similar for all of those. Doubtful.

Federal, Military and Law Enforcement Sales Inquiries
At Staccato, we honor the Heroes who put their lives at risk to protect our communities. Hundreds of law enforcement across the country continue to choose Staccato, not only because of the performance of our pistols, but also for the ongoing support they can depend on.staccato2011.com
Even in California though, there was an uproar a few years ago when Ontario PD purchased and issued XCs for their force as a department buy. This would be a few years back, back when XC’s would be more high end 2011 than many would know about - Atlas and above were still more niche.
IIRC though, those funds were due to some kind of civil forfeiture or criminal activity and so they were use it or lose it color of money.
Safe to assume the number is inflated for whatever sells best - government procurement always works like that, even at the state and local level. So, I doubt 1,800 reflects the number of departments actually issuing them versus just approved for use on and off duty as a personal sidearm. Is that 1,800 authorized for purchase? there's no way they are working on a 40% margin, they aren't even talking about Staccato here they are talking about custom shops and probably Fowler because Ben is involved in internet drama with them right now, but people assume that because something is expensive that it has a high margin but it's often less than a mass produced shop.
not to defend them because you are right, but when Nathan Horvath created Staccato a big thing was they changed their whole production line because they knew how inconsistent and unreliable the STIs were. Staccatos have a good reputation for reliability now but it's reliable for a 2011 and still inherently less reliable than basically any off the shelf plastic gun. the HD series does change a lot of the classic issues that 2011s have had, namely the magazines and extractor, but they still can't be neglected like a plastic striker fired gun. I love shooting 2011s but not interested in carrying one, I like carrying a cheap reliable 22-24oz gun.I’ve motherlessed about it before and i’ll do it again. I had and STI Edge when they could barely sell the things. It was frustrating to do a range trip without the gun having some kind of hiccup. STI was zero help in fixing it, they became “Staccto” and started blowing wads on IG people and all the sudden 2011’s where the best thing on the planet. (They aren’t, and the will sue you if you say 2011 *brought to you by Carls Junior*). The guns are just stupid hype beast
comp/range toys. The PD’s issuing them are getting them dirt cheap and someone in procurement got a handy or new car. No one should be using one as a duty pistol when S&W, Glock, Beretta, Sig all exist. Cops do not maintain their
, most cops are not gun people. It’s a waste of budget for a less duty proven and practical firearm. Paying multiple thousand dollars for something that only works sometimes or under very specific enivorments that is supposed to be a life saving tool. F-ing retarded, full stop.
Totally fair, i’m just not at a point where “for a …. it’s good” is something i’m not into. Also Staccato being sue happy and influencer heavy aggressively makes me never want to deal with them or the entire “2011” market at all. Granted the p211 GT4/5 was nice to play with/finger in the store. Sig issues not withstanding.not to defend them because you are right, but when Nathan Horvath created Staccato a big thing was they changed their whole production line because they knew how inconsistent and unreliable the STIs were. Yeah the company doesn't make me want to buy anything from them at all. but I do love my 2011 I built for competition, and it's not a Staccato.Totally fair, i’m just not at a point where “for a …. it’s good” is something i’m not into. A former colleague of mine is working for Staccato now and it doesn't sound like there is a single police department in the country that is issuing these guns. There are tons of agencies that have authorized them for duty. Police departments, large and small, constantly fight with city managers for funding and there is no way in hell someone is approving a purchase order for X number of Staccato pistols at $1500 per unit (assuming a 40% margin) when Glock, FN, and S&W offer their pistols at $200 per unit (true data from invoices I have seen). Is that 1,800 authorized for purchase? Just remember, most of new Shiccato gun selling FFL stores in CA are now in possession of used Shiccatos. Don't pay full price. If they have advertised as new, double check to see if they are authorized by Shiccatto.
What is that based on? I hadn’t heard of any CA dealers that lost their status. Which ones have? I just knew they’re not accepting any more CA dealers.Just remember, most of new Shiccato gun selling FFL stores in CA are now in possession of used Shiccatos. Don't pay full price.
