I went on the GlockClassAction.com site to see if they have the complaint posted. I had to register for a PACER account if I want to read the court filings, but that takes 7-10 days as an individual. They purposely make the information available.

I've never purchased a new Glock, however my 43x is on my CCW so I'm wondering which records were accessed to find the Glock owners. CFARs?

Yeah, this is VERY strange to me. How would they know to include me? I've literally only bought a single Glock brand new and that was in 2002. Every other Glock has been used...

Additionally, you have to submit all of this info to opt out...

I did the same, but I tore it up first since my name was on it.

And for the record, I bought a Glock 17 several years ago when they had a special and offered the Blue Label Program to veterans if we purchased a Glock between Memorial Day and Veterans Day. I tried to like it, but I couldn’t. So I sold it. But I guess that was enough to make me a member of the class I have no desire to be a part of.

Even if you ignore the card if something becomes of it. They will eventually send you another one saying if they are paying out. It''s like the Epipen Class Action Lawsuit... i just got $17.99 from it 2 days ago.

Recommend we all respond with something like:

I do not wish to be a "class member" in your lawsuit.
Based on my experience with Glock firearms I consider your lawsuit to be unwarranted and lacking merit. In fact I would happily testify in favor of Glock Inc.
Further, I request you reply to this letter with an explanation of how you knew to mail your notice to me, and any other Glock owner who received the letter.

I wonder if these sorts of responses might be discoverable by the defense and used in evidence?
I am not typically some "ohmagersh we need to help defend big company" type of fanboy, but I despise bull money-grab lawsuits.

Same, and I gotta say it feels off to me... because I think usually you have to OPT IN to the class in a class action lawsuit, NOT opt out like they are telling you to in the notice. But I'm no lawyer.

But overall it feels a little weird to me, like... I think there is a good possibility that this is a scam or something. I don't feel wild about having to Opt out.

And honestly I'm like "WTF is this trial about, I have NO qualms about my Glock, leave me out of your bull FUDD lawsuit, who the F- are you to presume to file a lawsuit on MY behalf that I now supposedly need to opt out of."

I looked up the case # and it appears to be a legit case here in Fed court, but again, this notice and the idea that I have to present myself in writing to be excluded just feels super henky.

My husband and I each got a card today. They obviously subpoenaed records either from 1) the DOJ in order to get information on every registered Glock owner or 2) from Glock themselves who may have a list of those who registered for their warranties.

The language that makes me nervous in this card is under the 4th paragraph that starts with:

What are My Options? "You will be bound by all orders and judgments of the Court, whether favorable or not, and you will not be able to sue Glock....If you exclude yourself, you cannot get any money or benefits from this lawsuit if they become available, but you will not be bound by any orders or judgments in this lawsuit."
My inclination would be to likely exclude myself since 1) I don't want the money 2) I don't agree that this lawsuit thinks I am so moronic that I don't know that guns are dangerous and Glocks are especially dangerous 3) I don't want to be bound by some BS orders or judgments in the suit.

Can any attorney here shed some light on what this all means? Could a judge/jury decide that they are too dangerous to own and somehow confiscate my weapon since I am bound by whatever outcome/judgment comes out of this? Any information would be helpful!

This is only a civil action for money and maybe some injunctive relief against Glock. A judgment or order in this case cannot result in your weapons being confiscated. The class is the plaintiff seeking money. If a money judgment is issued and you did not OPT OUT, then you could never sue Glock for any related claim. That is all the paragraph you are referring to means.

It is strange, I purchased my glocks and never registered for the warranty with Glock. I think the only way they've could have gotten the glock owner addresses is from the California DOJ or ATF.

I am for sure joining this. I am the typical person who is against lawsuits when I see them against firearms. I immediately think it’s some liberal being a pansy trying to make a dollar. That being said, my Glock 23 gen 3 and Glock 22 gen 4 front rails are both pulling from the frame. Glock won’t warranty my gen 4 because it requires a new frame and I can’t get that in CA. And honestly it seems like now the same for the gen 3. That means I am left with a firearm shooting a .40cal with a receding frame.
