Kimber 2K11 California Updates?

You should take a look at the RCD Core. Handled an off roster 2K11 and it is a really nice gun, but not close to an Atlas which understandable considering the price point. The RCD Core on the other hand is. Atlas barrel, trigger, tool less guide rod and EGW ignition parts. I picked my Core on 8/3 and damn it's crazy that these are less than half the price of an Athena. The grip texture is outstanding. Still need to take it out and compare how it shoots against my Athena but extremely impressed so far with the Core.

Ditto. While I haven't shot Athena OR 2K11, RCD Core is freaking awesome. Buttery smooth and joy to shoot. @paintballdad thanks for giving me an opportunity to flex a little LOL

Yah, RCD is big value. It's like 95% as good as an Atlas, but loses some points for no alpha grip modularity so no adjustable texture or balance/weight with the grip panels. But, for the money it's every bit as good as if you had an Atlas with flat panels on each side.

It's pretty much nearly the same. Just a bit worse if you have especially large or small hands or want to adjust the way your gun balances, returns a bit due to muzzle vs magwell weight balance, grip texture, etc.

RCD takes the same approach as Atlas does where there's a strong emphasis on tight tolerance CNC work to minimize the need for hand fitting prior to final assembly. A lot of the costs in 2011s is in that hand fitment and QC, so reducing ~ 20 hours of hand work down to just a few cuts the cost a bunch.

I consider myself to be pretty seasoned on 2011s - it's the only handgun platform I've really shot, trained with, or carried for over a decade. Owned pretty much every 2011 brand on the market in that time - everything from prodigies and staccatos to Infinities and full customs like EMG.

AJ schools me each and every time and is a long time contributor/font of knowledge that helps bridge the gap between industry insiders/gunsmiths and normal customers/users.

If you hadn't seen his channel, but are into 2011s, I'd recommend AJ and Engineer's Armory.

Engineers armory is a great resource. Best step by step on any 2011 (and some others) gun smithing

He does all kinds of cool stuff and analysis on port styles vs location vs size/surface area, full breakdowns and explanations of his builds, how different coatings/finishes work at a molecular level, etc. Very neat.

He actually sent over one of his builds over to AJ (leaditout) to be reviewed so that was a neat collaboration too.

You say that but I’ve seen the wall of amps in the background of your videos. You know what it’s like to be addicted. It’s only a matter of time.
The wall of amps and guitars has been shrinking to go to the pew pew hobby, lol. I had a LOT more not long ago.

I've not heard of or seen RCD anywhere unfortunately. Part of the decision making process is what is readily available. My SV for example, cost way too much, but was also available at the LGS. The 2k11 will be available at the LGS, which makes my life easy. Plus, I'm all done with all black firearms. That's all I've ever had, gotta get some color in there!

I'm a tinkerer, so if it needs a little of this or that to work better I'm ok with it. Even the SV needed some tinkering to work for me, so I'd assume none of them will come perfect out of the box for how I use them. Mainly competition in all sorts of dusty/crappy/hot/wet environments.

RCD is available through Kovert in Irvine via SSE.

Yeah, unfortunately they currently have a limited dealer network. It seems that you are located in the Sacramento area and their only CA dealer is in SoCal. Would have you try my Core if you were in SoCal.

FYI. Both of my Atlas and both Platypus were 100% reliable out of the box and were all used in matches.

I'm fairly certain Kovert will ship their SSEs, I've done that from 2azone at Loyal Arms in Folsom.

they will. Most FFLs that do SSE will ship if the receiving FFL accepts those kinds of transfers. Not all of them will accept, but there's usually within each big county or something that's good to work with.

No_glonks can confirm. He had his shipped to his FFL and he is in Socal lol. He hates the drive to Irvine.
True that. Paid convenience fee not to make two 3 hour long round trips :)

Shop by my house asked $300 to transfer SSE, shop at the Angeles Range I frequently visit charged me $100. Owner called Kovert and they walked him through how to fill out paperwork

Dang, loyal arms was like 100 so not bad I think they charge 25 extra for sse vs a regular mail order transfer

Angeles armory charged me as much as they do for any other transfer. I believe it was their first SSE.
If anyone lives close by - highly recommend. Each purchase or transfer comes with free range pass, and he matches prices to other stores including Turners.

Really these are only going to impact the off roster Kimber market (sorry to those asking $1K+ over in the classifieds). The GT5 is showing up at the same time with the same price point. They aren't going to affect the Apache and other high end 2011 market.
Hoping the GT5 does happen at the same time but I feel like there is no talk or rumors about it right now.

Not long after this video the P365 Luxe was released.

Also, some vendors like Route 66 have already released preorders which have sold out.
