Anyone know if you need to declare a barrel by itself when flying? Or if TSA or anyone else now considers it a “firearm” in terms of transportation? I would think not but

I believe you have to declare it and must be in a locked container within your luggage or as a checked-in as a luggage on its own in a locked container.Hmmm I’m flying to Ontario next month maybe I’ll have a barrel sent there and pick it up…

You don't not need to declare a standalone gun barrel when flying. But needs to be checked in.
TSA does not classify a barrel by itself as a firearm so it does not require the special declaration process needed for complete firearms or frames/receivers.
