Mag Disconnect - do you just accept it?

You're probably correct, in my case I have a VP9A1K and F that require a replacement part to disable the "feature" and it's been out of stock everywhere I have checked. It's preventing me from taking it out right now, but I have a couple stock indicators for when it's available. I think Grayguns has it available, but they don't sell them direct, only if sending it in to have work done like a new trigger.
yeah, that one is tricky. If you manage to get it apart (good luck!), you dont really need a new part - you can dremel the hook that acts as the disconnect in that set up and you will be good to go.

Beware, taking that HK apart is way more difficult that the Glock platform - extra springs etc, but more importantly that extra plastic rivet holding the the trigger housing down - more often than not, people crack the frame removing that thing.

You are so spot on with this comment, I bought a P365 Xmacro and swapped the trigger and took out the disconnect, it was a piece of cake. I watched a video on the VP9 after I bought it and it's way more complicated, I guarantee a couple springs would go flying and they are super small, plus cracking the frame like you mentioned.

pulled it off of my mp2.0 same day i took it home, hate the idea of not being able reset the trigger without a mag inside

My HD P4 disconnect seems to be the most "logical" way to do it if you're going to be stuck with one. No digging around with your finger in the mag well. Just press on the mag release and you can pull the trigger.
While it’s better than most and dead simply to permanently disable a few different ways, it’s just a major liability on a defensive use gun.

I don't mind a magazine disconnect if 1) it doesn't degrade trigger pull quality, and 2) it doesn't excessively complicate takedown.

It's a non-issue on my VP9K. No effect on trigger pull, no change to takedown in part because the VP9 doesn't require pulling the trigger prior to takedown. So it's just lock back the slide, then drop the magazine, then turn the takedown lever and remove the slide.

The PDP on the other hand requires a trigger pull. Not a big thing to take down once one gets the sequence down, but it takes a few minutes the first day to get there. I have to wonder if in a case like that the mandated mag disconnect actually increases the risk of a negligent discharge for less serious shooters who only pull their pistol out of the safe twice a year. Bottom line, I might want to remove the disconnect on certain brands, but since I'm mostly an HK guy it's a non-issue for me.

Or buy an after market trigger/bow and install (minor fitting) or use a mill or file and remove enough material for mag catch for the OEM trigger bow nub to not hit it. 😊

I haven't given much more thought to removing it from the PDP...I guess we'll see how F-ing with it during unload, show clear, etc. this weekend is. I really hope they don't want an empty mag to hammer down...
Of course they will. “ if clear, hammer down , holster.” It’s a drag. I’ve seen people do it. Maybe a magnet or pouch with the empty mag for the last step.

If you are putting tens of thousands of rounds down range through a competition pistol, that cost far exceeds the price of an off roster gun with no mag disco.

Add to that , the cost of customizatio

I havent met an MD that can't be undone...what platform makes them unremovable?
There are two different kinds of magazine disconnects.
Active and passive.
Passive ones are designs that typicaly block the trigger travel unless thye magazine is inserted.
Passive are usually no problem to remove as they are not part of the trigger mechanism that's actually required for function.
Then we move on to active.
Active magazine disconnects are part of the trigger function and break the connection between trigger/sear when the magazine is removed.
These can be more difficult to defeat because of the nature of the design.
Active magazine disconnects usually leave you with a "dead" trigger which you can pull all you want, but the sear or striker are not being moved when the magazine disconnect is not held back by an inserted magazine.

The solution on active magazine disconnects is to immobilize the part that senses the magazine so that the gun always acts like the magazine is inserted.

Red dirt otw... I have stubby fingers so always a must.
Having tested both, I do prefer the infinity trigger over the red dirt trigger for the HD. But, if you’re using an F1 infinity doesn’t offer the extra short right now so that could be the difference. At least with the infinity you’re getting the ability to drill for adjustable pre-travel if you want and the face is textured (minor but nice that it’s tactile there).

Both are better than the OEM curved trigger IMO, but I’ve yet to try the new OEM flat face but suspect it’s basically the same as the other flat face triggers they offer.

Yeah, I'm prepared to do the empty mag on the magnet deal...I don't WANT to do it but it's whatever.

Can you give an example of the active version?

- sig has the trigger block
- shadow has it sitting in the trigger itself
- HK has an entirely different piece in line with the trigger bar.

All are different but I would catagorize by your definition as passive.

Shield Plus. Free floating trigger until mag is inserted.

Also a pain because you have to stick your finger (or tool) in the action to depress the mag release when removing the slide!!

Thanks! Will need to check out the Infinity trigger.

Mag disconnects were enacted by people who don't shoot, don't understand how firearms operate and run on the premise that adding more "safety" features are better, when in fact it makes the firearm more dangerous.

I only purchase firearms that I am able to remove the mag disconnect on, or buy a safer version without the mag disconnect from PPT.
I don’t like MDs either but I think this overstates the point. The French Army included a MD in its Grande Puissance requirements that yielded the Browning Hi Power. I assume the French Army ordinance officers who wanted a MD were people who shot, understood firearms, and had a use case in mind. Exactly what that use case was, I don’t know.

I just can’t accept it. If I can remove it, I do. If it can’t be feasibly and easily removed, like on CA-compliant H&Ks and Walthers, then I simply don’t appreciate the gun enough to buy it.
