I'm not really understanding why this is a major problem though? You can currently emote everything but the laughing emoji on people's ads and if it's not at a price someone is willing to pay, it'll just sit there.

You can do all kinds of advanced searches or saved searches to filter out what you do or don't want to see to avoid any spam as well.

I've done deals on this platform in under 24 hours from seeing the new listing to meeting and getting the paperwork completed because it was at an attractive price and a rarer item and also had to sit through a few weeks of back and forth trying to sell a very high end firearm because the market is softer there and twenty people wanted to nickel and dime on what I considered a very good deal (significantly lower than anything I'd ever seen on here or elsewhere), but the market was the market. It sold eventually at a price both sides could live with. Alternatively, I sold something last month on here for $20k and it was only listed for a few hours before the buyer scooped it up.

The market is the market and I personally think it's working as intended. As a seller I don't mind the bump system and it beats having manually comment and having pages and pages of it drag on.

Many of these newer gun owners buying guns at a higher rate due to inflation, Covid prices ,etc and straight over paid either from PPT or their local FFL. And now trying to get their full money back plus taxes and fees. In my opinion, some older gun owner selling their stuff cheaper since bought cheaper and might not need the funds as bad due to be more financially sound. True, this is not always the case. Then you have people selling off-rosters no matter the age just to make money and holding off hoping someone will want it bad enough. It is funny so many people complaining about these people selling off rosters in the past, but then when Glocks or CZs fell off the roster, they selling their G3 Glocks for over $1000 lol.

Yep for sure. To me including cost with tax on a used item is delusional but I guess sell what the market will bear. That’s why most of my guns I bought new. I don’t care if the total cost is $50-100 more out the door when I’m getting a BRAND NEW gun with full warranty lmaooo. The M9 was a great example.. after their rebate I got full 3 year warranty less than the cost of a used one selling here. That’s after buying off gunbroker and paying my club transfer fee.

I don’t know any other item like that. Everything we buy has tax.

Not to mention people usually lie about the round count on the guns they want to sell. Best ones are "50 rounds through the pipe just to make sure it functioned." More like 15k rounds as they used it for steel challenge matches on the weekends...

Funny, about a month or two ago I asked the question are people honest about round counts on here? My observation; a large percentage of the guns for sale had little to no rounds fired, I am incredulous. Just about every answer was yes!

One issue is that the search function is broken. For instance search 1911 vs 1911 9mm and you will find in the latter that a bunch of guns with "1911" directly in their titles. But why didn't they show up with just "1911"? What else am I missing if I'm not looking at the whole list? Calguns sucks balls I'm just saying I want to be able to leave comments on ads to get them to put up or get out of the way.

I actually believe it, most people don't shoot that much. It's rare for guns to actually be used to the point of even being broken in let alone worn out. I don't think I've ever worried about a used gun being too used unless it's a bolt action in a heavier caliber that actually wears out in a few thousand rounds

the issue is that it's hard to wade through and find worthwhile ads when there are so many repeat posts. If you don't look at the classifieds daily it's probably not an issue for you though. I just want the ads to get out of the way, you don't have to take it personally and assume I have "issues" because I want the marketplace to be more functional. I legitimately think it would be more functional with the ability to have dialog on the ads.

My last ccw renewal class a few people didn’t know what gun make/models they brought to qual . They had to open a case and look

I would totally believe some guns have very few rounds fired

the issue is that it's hard to wade through and find worthwhile ads when there are so many repeat posts. If you don't look at the classifieds daily it's probably not an issue for you though. I just want the ads to get out of the way, you don't have to take it personally and assume I have "issues" because I want the marketplace to be more functional. as another guy pointed out, you can actually sort by the ad creation date. That's something I did not know when I posted this earlier today.

In 2 years we’ve gone from 1500 to 46k+ users and a lot of tx’s between members. I’m not sure why you’d say it’s not working. Many friendships made as well

The filters are the driving force and things get picked up very fast. Some users log in every day multiple times a day scanning for new listings.

If you’re casual then it might look like there’s nothing but there’s a lot of activity and growing. Some of the older listings beyond one year will gradually be removed. There was a bug where some would stick around but it’s limited.

The amount of people that do those compared to total gun owners must be a fraction of a percent. It's like how many motorcyclists do a trackday at Laguna Seca vs the entire population, less than 1%?
