Announcement Migration Plan

Just sharing with you guys we've reached a new milestone! 500+ users in a 30 min window. This is the first time we've crossed 500!

We're approaching 10,000 users and will close off the ghost badge soon. It's been quite a year. In the short time we've been operating we've done a lot. 2025 will be another strong year where the next generation of young 2A enthusiasts will have a place to land.

We're going to focus on bringing the following:
  • Add more experience & hopefully legal opinions
  • Community & Classified moderators
  • New features and depth of content
  • Build connections and friendships
There's a lot of work to do and a bright future if we're lucky and work hard. For every ending, there's an opportunity for a new beginning.

Our systematic growth continues as our average duration is increasing, low bounce rate, and high number of pages per visit. December is shaping up to be even better as we continue on our path to add more feature functionality for the 2A community.

Top countries for Calguns is USA, India, and Canada. CAguns is 100% USA. These particular metrics will tell you where those "guests" are coming from.

Our Demographics range is also fairly balanced. Our goal for CAguns to be for everyone is working and I'm glad this is reflected in 3rd party statistics.

Actually, Calguns.net has been work fairly well for the past several hours. So the prediction of a dying site looks to be premature.

Yeah looks like it’s up. Let’s see if it’ll stay sustained. It usually takes 72+ hours before it starts to slow down.

I found it interesting that Calguns wouldn't allow bouncing boobies (would get you banned) but allow them freely on CG.org.

Thanks to the recent contributions and growth, we'll be splitting the architecture into 3 tiers from two tiers. Each hosted on its own server so that we can scale each service independently.

Search will run on its own instance as we prepare for new features for the CA Supporters and the growth of the platform. We will look into providing saved searches for CA Supporters and Vendors. I'm not sure when that will happen but everyone will benefit from the improvements below.

Our development server is up and running. Our third (Search) server also acts as a failover and is in a different availability zone with a copy of the previous days database. The only thing we're waiting for is for some add-ons to update to the latest version. Once all our different pieces are updated, we'll schedule a time where we'll do the migration here. I estimate it should take between 3-4 hours. The majority of work is done beforehand so hopefully it'll be done sooner.

Not Implemented yet: 9/5/24

The new version will offer a number of usability improvements in performance and convenience.
  • Passkey Logins - no more password requirement
  • Improved search speed - not right now but better to get out of the way while we're small. Already 350k searches on the platform.
  • Improved page load speed - its already fast, but payloads will be smaller
    • Less overall cost for us and better user experience
    • Page loads to be ~500-600ms not including analytics
  • More flexibility with other integrations
Roadmap
  • We'll configure other parts of the system to be easier to use
  • User trophies and badges for regular contributors
    • If vendors want to work on doing promotions or giveaways please DM me.
There's a lot of work to do and a lot of configuration that needs to be done. For the time being, we'll wait until CG comes online. Naturally our traffic dips after they come back so for now, we'll test and get our systems configured.

Let us know what you want to see in the platform. Ultimately, you guys tell us what you want to see and we'll add it to our roadmap if enough of you want it.

Thank you for checking out the platform and making it what it is. I couldn't have imagined 6 months ago we'd be where we're at. March 23rd was the first day we opened on Reddit and had our first users, users who signed up within the first post received the early bird badge. We'll try to have some more fun here with different flairs and activities.

can you make the app onto the app store here and there it will forget your account then I have forgotten my password n all that I plan on using this site as long as it exists and would love an app for my phone

Greenlaw & Bosa should be back next game so the D should improve, injuries suck.
Went to countless games when they played at the Stick, Dad was a season ticket holder for 12 years till he just had enough when according to him they were starting "the skinny kid from Notre Dame". He did not renew for the 81 season.
A regret he died with as season tickets after that year became like a 2-3 year waiting list lol.
