My first AR outta jail today - It’s an Aero upper/lower so roast away

Everything else being equal, the number of people on this forum who would shoot any better or worse just because of the brand of the upper or lower is almost certainly zero. The number of people IN THE WORLD who would shoot any better or worse because of the brand of the upper lower can probably be counted on 2 hands.
There is some reasonable expectation that a near-press-fit upper like a BCM will out shoot an upper with a looser barrel fit. And there certainly have been lowers that have been poorly machined causing malfunctions and safety issues. Vulcan/Hesse being one to mention.

That being said I have dozens of Poverty Ponies that work perfectly fine and have assembled dozens more for other people who have never complained about function.

If we are talking about receivers that are in spec then absolutely, but barrels can vary widely in accuracy and adding things like an adjustable gas block and lightweight bolt carrier can completely change how much muzzle rise you get and will allow you to shoot noticeably faster. The BA barrels that Aero uses are decent, there are certainly more accurate barrels but they cost twice as much. Even if your barrel/receiver fit isn't super tight you can shim it and make it just as accurate as a BCM heat fit one. All that to say that Aero stuff is good, but there are performance gains to be had. I use their receivers all day though

My Aero AR has the lightweight nitride BCG, an adjustable gas key, 75% power buffer spring and a 3 Oz tungsten powder filled buffer.

It's a soft shooter, no clang and a pleasure to shoot.

Agree; that's why I said "everything else being equal".

Once I get more familiar with the platform my goal
is to build one from A-Z. are there any uppers/lowers you recommend or that I should avoid for a future build? View attachment 162018

I like them!

Last fall I bought the similar in kodiak brown but with hanson barrel, and no logo lower. I drove 3 hours one way to buy the no logo lower because no one else had this color in stock.

I like the bolt release uses a threaded pin instead of a roll pin and the rear tension screw is awesome. It's one of the very few uppers that I seen who's barrel is exactly centered in the handguard.

I made mine into a fixed mag/single shot using the bob sled. Loading one at a time is quit enjoyable imo.

Congrats!

Aero is top notch in my book.. I have expensive AR(s), Noveske, Vltor, DD… but my Aero is one of my go to rifles. Simple and light! Keep it the way it is!
Yup, Aero was OEMing for I think Armalite and/or Bushmaster and/or Colt forever and decided they could sell directly under their own brand for 1/3 the ABC prices and for 2X what hey were selling to ABC for with the same quality. The diehard ABC fans shy’d away from them but for a very long time there were the highest quality that was not named in SB23. Aero was top tier OLL. Now it seems Aero is going under, not much being shipped from them. Just too much competition. I have at least one build which is aero upper and lower and I think I have at least one other Aero lower build.

Nice rifle :D

My experience last fall was that I ordered the upper not knowing anything about Aero's situation. After ordering I read a bunch of posts about shipping delays and panicked so I called them and someone answered, they told me my package was ready and sure enough few days later it arrived.

That was just a few months ago. Many things were out of stock on their website when I ordered and still, I got my order within a week. Are they going under, no clue but my order worked out and I then bought the matching color no logo lower which also worked out really well.
