I just picked up an M&P 2.0 compact (4 inch) as well! Loving it so far, mounted a Holosun 507c x2 on it. Still thinking about putting a light on it but haven’t decided yet.
Do it, they look so sick. I was between the Streamlight TLR-7 and the Surefire XC3 and was ready to get the Streamlight but my wife surprised me with the XC3 for my bday. Ill try and post a pic when I pick it up this weekend, even the gun shop guys were impressed by how flush the fit was which was the reason I was between the two lights.

Interesting, I really prefer the look of the flush light. Might have to look into the XC3, I was initially considering the TLR 7X. Need to see that pic!

CAGuns! I’ve bees lurking the Reddit page for a little while and kept hearing about this Forum. I also watch a lot of Reno May videos and he had a lot of positive things to say. My family and I recently relocated to Napa/East Bay. I am life long resident of California, grew up in the Los Angeles area.

I purchased a 1911 years ago and more or less forgot about it until about 6 months ago. Having two girls made me want to get a bit more serious about protecting myself and my family. Been learning as much as I can and am slowly getting addicted to collecting/shooting as a hobby.

Really appreciate the culture here as a whole!
Napa/East bay resident and father of two girls as well!! If you are itching to find a great shop.. Triple A in Vallejo is the BEST. Highly knowledgeable and friendly crew, wall to wall..floor to ceiling guns. Reasonable prices as well.

My wife and I shoot at Yolo sportsman’s association. It’s about 40 min drive but out in the country and Beautiful. Napa gun club is invitation only membership with years on a waitlist.

Maybe sometime we will cross paths.

Hey All - New member from the Bay Area 👋

Randomly stumbled upon the site, and it appears to be a fantastic resource for crowd-sourced knowledge and PPT marketplace, specifically for CA owners. I'm stoked to join a community of like-minded individuals, and look forward to interacting with you.

My current lineup:
  • LWRC DI
  • HK VP9L
  • Benelli M4

Very nice selection!!

Hello, all, I'm Jayson from Murrieta, and I've been quietly lurking for about two weeks before making my intro. Kind of an old forum habit, lol.

I've been around firearms my whole life. I grew up hunting and shooting on the East Coast and have spent a majority of my adult life in a career that required handling of various weapons. I've let my love for firearms... smolder since coming back to CA though. I guess I figured it was just easier to not have to deal with any of the silly laws that stomp on my rights than to put in any effort.

Long story longer, about two months ago, one of the Ring cameras in our house caught a glimpse of someone in our back yard. It then recorded our back door swinging open and someone standing in the doorway. (One of my kids had gone into our yard after I went to sleep and left the door unlocked). The would-be intruder bailed when he heard my older (20-something) kids were still awake. The next night, only a few streets away an older man and his wife were attacked in their home with a screwdriver and a knife. She survived, he did not.

That was the eye- opener I needed. I got my ass enrolled in Jiu Jitsu. My 10 y/o daughter took interest, so I got her enrolled too. I've submitted all my paperwork to the DOJ (you know, since I just brought all my firearms into the state) which has been... trying. Whenever they finally clear everything, I'm applying for my CCW, FFL-03 & COE. I'm jumping in with both feet.

I have a relatively small roster now. Some handguns, rifles and a shotgun. It's time to fill in some gaps, so I've been doing a LOT of research. I've deep-dived firearms and CA laws. I've made lists of needs and wants. I'm PPT'ing a Mossberg 500 this week. After that I'll be looking for a 9mm PCC and a .22 SA pistol, since my 19 y/o daughter has shown interest in learning to shoot.

My wife is supportive, which is nice. Our first date was at a gun range. She took me to a gun show for my birthday one year and handed me a wad of cash. But I don't get any more gun money until I clean out my garage. 🤣 Even then, I'll have to make smart, well- informed decisions.

Fave YT channels right now are probably:
Honest Outlaw
Doug Johnson (SoCal local)
Chewjitsu

Faves from my stable right now are:
Springfield XD 4" 9mm
Type 56 Carbine 7.62×39mm

If you've read this far: thank you for taking the time out of your day to learn about me. I'm sure I'll see some of you around the forums.
Powerful experience and glad nothing came of it for your family. So sad about the neighbors. Thank you for sharing!

Triple A is one of the only spots in the area I haven’t checked out yet. Sounds like I will need to rectify this. I’ve went into 29 Outdoor Gear a couple times and had their gunsmith work on my 1911. I also stopped into High Velocity, nice shop but on the pricy side.

Ive been trying to figure out which range to make my home at. I haven’t stopped by Yolo yet, sounds like a range day is in order. Also did not realize Napa Gun Club was invitation only, I had seen their website online and inquired about membership. Makes a bit more sense now as to why I didn’t hear back lol.

Would love to connect with you sometime, this has already been pretty helpful!

Thank you for your response! Since I've made my intro, some of my plans have come to fruition, some have fallen through, some have changed. Any way you slice it though, I've met some really great people in here!

Hey there, lived in NorCal for about five years, I’m from NM. I’m glad I found the subreddit and link to this site.
I have a Taurus PT845, a M&P shield and a 9mm hi point. Had a really nice 80s lower on an AR but had to unfortunately sell it back to the guy that machined it out (short on money at the time)
I’m trying to start building my collection again and would love to chat

Native born Yuba/Sutter Area man. Currently building a KS-47 that can hole punch in 7.62x39 and 6.5 Grendel. Happy to finally be an owner of a KS-47 and begin to branch out of ARs into other platforms and calibers.

I miss SoCal, I have to drive 8 hours one way to visit there and the folks I know down there. The longest drive is the long 8 hours going back north. And I've heard only good things about the Sig P2XX's. I've only shot Glocks and 1911s.

A little late but she was released from jail today!

Yeah you are right I do like the look of that. Are you planning on putting a red dot on it as well? Did you get a holster that fits the light also?
I have the dot ready (SCS-MP2) on the comp and carry slide, just trying to find time to do an initial cleaning this week before taking it to the range Friday to sight it in.

I don't have plans for a holster atm but I liked that any TLR-7 compatible ones also work with the XC3 since its the same footprint.

Hey there. Just moved to NorCal from North Carolina. Big differences and culture shocks there firearms wise. Looking forward to feeling able to protect my home and freedom again. Big into milsurp and imports, but I certainly enjoy my tacticool stuff.

Welcome! I have a retro A1 parts kit build I did and it's my favorite. And it's easy to keep legal with just a fin grip.

Also where in NorCal? Towards Sacramento or Chico? I live right between the two.

Hello. I'm a relatively new enthusiast from San Diego area. I've been a casual shooter for a long time but inherited a few of my father-in-law's guns (mainly .22 caliber) and even as an older guy want to learn and enjoy the sport and the freedom to do so.

I found this site by seeking out different venues and it was AI that actually pointed me here. I recently also joined a Colt forum as one of the guns i inherited is a unique 1950's Colt .22 handgun so hopefully a good variety of avenues to venture down. I also plan on joining a local gun range/club North of San Diego.

I look forward to learning and progressing in this as a hobby.

Thanks
