Funny you mention that, i never posted on calguns outaide of ads cus the sites ass. You must have some image of me in your head that your pulling out your ass.

Neither. I was a CG contributor whose participation with the site rarely extended past the marketplace.

As stated numerous times, this issue has been resolved, so continuing this argument is pointless and just creates drama where it isn’t necessary.

not the same, still the same rules, non 2A related, not on the main feed.
 
California has the lowest literacy rates in the country and ranks near the bottom for overall k-12 education. We communicate anonymously through electronics, in incomplete sentences and we skim posts instead of reading books and articles. I would imagine that these and other factors have some effect on a declining vocabulary.
 
No doubt. And lousy schools as well.

In the fourth grade, I was going to the 7th and 8th grade for all my classes. Then I transferred to 5th grade in a public system. I went downhill from there until I graduated from high school with a D- average for my senior year. Yet when I took the National Scholastic Apptitude tests in high school, I scored in the 96th to 99th percentile.

Sucks too because CA also has the highest density of educated workforce billion dollar companies.
 
averages in California aren't super meaningful though, we have both the highest scoring counties in the country along with the lowest scoring. In pure numbers we have more literate people than anywhere, along with the highest number of illiterate. We have the most Republicans in the country along with the most Democrats. over 10 million people here were born in another country which is more people than 40 states have at all, we have more undocumented people than 14 states have people to begin with (~2 million). That said, anti intellectualism is an American pastime and the internet has made it even worse.

You want spending too much time around people that rub off on you, try longshoremen. I'm a sailor and work on boats and ships for a living, both as a captain and a mate. At some point, you just tune it out, and jobs like you mentioned, and mine are notorious for the mentality of either you have a spine, grow one quickly, or you find somewhere else to work. My boss has rubbed off on me, we have a joke now where we got him a little whiteboard with "Days since (boss's name) has had a run in with HR' on it, and it tends to remain below 10. As you said, it's all the same after a while.

If someone calls someone "you're a f'in f'tard" they would not be offended,
But
If they say "you're a f'in r'tard" they would be offended?
 
I presume that most gun owners and enthusiasts are a meticulous and methodical lot. I would hope they are so with firearms as well. So when a firearm has a 'Failure-to-Feed' or a 'Failure to Eject' or stovepiping - its not only interruptive it's unacceptable.

If while you were shooting, you had an FTF or FTE every several rounds, your flow would be a herky-jerky mess. Accuracy would suffer. That's certainly not needed nor wanted. It's even wasteful, and prevents you from staying on target, inhibits accuracy, obstructs your purpose and goal, and often wastes live cartridges if they are damaged in the misapplication. The intent is diminished by excess surplus.

I'm certainly not against applying some colorful language verbally when it implies a directive, or projecting use of a noun to convey my thoughts on an object or person, or simply labeling the very thing itself by rightfully replacing the word manure where appropriate, or when an epithet can assimilate description of an act of defecation by Vulcan Arms, or say, a 1980s General Motors product.

However, in writing? It's a wasted keystroke, a wedge in the linear stream of consciousness, a filler for when someone has a limited mind for lack of using something substantially more powerful. There are so many words in the English language that can serve better than the several commoner swear/cuss words, it's unfortunate that people can't expand beyond those crutch blurbs.

Just consider the assembly of the words 'smegma lick' for example. That's practically poetry. It won't get censored, and most people will have to go Google it, or grab a Webster's, to full realize its impact.

Otherwise, the repeat use of the several four-letter words in writing every dozen words or so is just cognitive anemia on display. It's limiting, you limit yourself. By resorting to pedestrian third-world speak, you inhibit your ability to express yourself succinctly and accurately and it's more apparent in the written word.

Exacting accuracy is just about what every gun owner wants out of their firearm, therefore I would think they would want the same with their words.

If someone, in my presence, says WTF or That's BS when I tell him something, I'm not offended.

But if he called me a " f'in r'tard", I would be offended.


So to put a tidy little bow on it, people who type cuss words on a website as part of their way of communication is just fine with me.
 
I am all for freedom of speech and freedom for members, but is it necessary? Personally, I want to come on and read gun posts and info, not a slew a swearing.
 
Weighing in; like most, I don't mind the occasional word bomb- especially when it fits well. But when someone can't make a point without using them, its on them to expand their vocabulary, they come across as lacking word knowledge. End weigh in.
