Off-Roster Prices About to Crash? DOJ Just Changed Everything

Not even going to click on that garbage. With advances in AI, youtube is basically obsolete. Waste your time watching youtube click bait at your own risk or if thats what floats your boat i guess. Especially if you are into Qanon level dog 💩 hysteria. Even then you'll have to do an AI summary of any youtube video. Just go straight to asking Gemini or Chatgpt and cut out the opinions of retards.

Some sellers are greedy, but not all. I've bought from this site twice at fair prices. That said, some listings are nearly double MSRP. That's exactly why many of us hope the handgun roster eventually goes away and the market becomes more competitive.
Yeah and some guns have sold at 100x their MSRP at auction. That's greed? Supply and demand prevails. Whining about it won't change anything. If their listing doesn't sell then they are losing out on their opportunity cost. The greedy guys are the ones relisting the same gun for years on end not budging on price.

Complaining about supply and demand is like complaining a 10/10 baddie won't fk you. lol.

this is exactly why we must remove all these California politicians instead of filing these meaningless lawsuits that go nowhere for forever (shrugs). the fact that MOST cannot grasp this endless game that has been going on for decades is strange to me, even as they are still hoping years later. comical.
We are a voting minority here so we can't. The lawsuits are the only way. Unless you can convert more voters here to republican/conservative.

Serious question.
I do find him mildly irritating but I also don't know of anybody who would cover gun news better (with emphasis on CA)
Any recommendations?
Discussion forums. As long as they have people who don't make money from discussing, like this one. The problem with Youtube and such places is that influencers there get paid when people watch their videos. So they are not interested in telling you the truth, they are interested in telling you things that make you watch more. Perhaps because it makes you angry, perhaps because it makes you happy.

The exception to discussion forums: When stakeholders start posting. If for example someone from the FPC or SAF were to post here and say "our lawsuit will solve all problems, including male pattern baldness and toe nail fungus, just donate another $1000 to Brandon Combs or Alan Gottlieb to make us win", then you should not believe them. Calguns used to have that problem when Gene, Brandon, Ben and their minions were very active there, and criticism of the CGF was considered a fireable offense.

Hey, that hopium is some good 💩!

The idea that the federal DoJ has some magic wand that can overrule the lack of arguments is laughable. Removing the roster has been tried in court, and has failed.
Yeah yeah - we get that you're anti gun and hate anything that the Trump admin does, but their arguments would absolutely pass at the Supreme Court under Bruen. The real question is why are you on Bonta's side?

This is a strange and interesting event.
The roster was always something that didn’t make sense because if it wasn’t safe then it shouldn’t be sold in any state. It did limit choices and created revenue.
What I think should be reversed is the build your own back to how it was. This was the most American thing ever. Sure people around the world do the same in jungles and caves but to me it just seemed unamerican to regulate this. I get there were probably too many bad actors that made this happen. Kinda like what happened to open carry people poking the bear got things taken away. Though most of the loons open carrying in protest of something do make me uncomfortable depending on how they are I’d just avoid the whole area or situation. Some guy open carrying a long gun these days in a walmart definitely would make me nervous even if not in CA. People were more civilized and cared more before. Just too many people brought up wrong and looney in America today. 😄

I grew up in West Virginia. Went back there over the holidays and people were carrying long guns in Walmart… didn’t think about it at all until I read your comment.

I don’t see how it’s different from carrying a leatherman or a cell phone. They’re all just tools.

I don’t use social media at all so can’t relate to people being loony in America. Do you use social media?

It has significantly raised the price you pay for firearms readily available in other states and kept many firearms out of the hands of those with limited means.
Sure. But Americas most popular CCW handgun is on the roster for the same price as everywhere else.

The state will never care that broke hobbyists can’t buy a staccato or coyote Glock to Gucci up

I’m not in favor of the roster but you don’t need a certain type of gun to protect yourself

I was saying I don’t understand the roster because all guns are still accessible if you have the coin, rendering the safety argument moot.

So what’s the actual grift?? I’d imagine if you follow the money it will lead somewhere

"But Americas most popular CCW handgun is on the roster for the same price as everywhere else." - A relatively new development that only occurred after multiple lawsuits and a decade or so of a stagnate roster. Remember, the fantasy micro-printing was part of the requirements to get a gun on the roster until injunctions were finally granted to eliminate it (at least temporarily).

"So what’s the actual grift?? I’d imagine if you follow the money it will lead somewhere" - Is it grift or just the anti-gun lobby? Or maybe politicians playing to the anti-gun lobby for financial backing? Agree with your point that it's nothing to do with safety.

It’s no secret that politicians use PACs to fund lavish lifestyles, or things like the conduit scheme as seen with Newsom’s former chief of staff.

I can’t imagine that was an isolated event. Oaklands former mayor was indicted on federal bribery charges. I wouldn’t call it unfair to say fraudulence is baked into CA politics.

I think the roster exists partly as a way to provide incentive to LEOs to enforce the nonsensical laws. They stand to benefit by creating a grey market where they can mark up goods with no ceiling.

Another part could be the lobbying you mentioned.

Calguns seems to have better deals when I have money to spend. Deals come up here when I don’t have the funds. I scored a P-01 for $650 on Calguns and just grabbed a CZ75 Kadet kit (.22 lr conversion) for half of what I’ve seen elsewhere. One now off roster and the other discontinued .

Deals are few and far between but they are there. People don’t sell items to make as little as possible or some ideological principle. They sell to make as much as they can. I’m not sure why that is baffling to people.

How are you liking the kit? I just found out there was a .22 kit for CZ's. I should have assumed CZ had one since I knew about the Beretta one.

What’s the point of the roster if I can get any gun I want via PPT?
Control, barrier to entry, one more fee to collect from manufacturers to stop them from selling guns in CA. Gun laws at best are classist and in reality racists.
