P211 GT5 - Looking to shave weight

people were talking about the md on reddit and it does not look good, I think you have to just cut the lever off. They seem to have made it thinking people would actually leave it in?

that should be just because it's new hopefully, with the right technique it should pop right off just don't forget about that detent that launches across the room if you don't block it. That's another thing you could switch out if you don't care about ambi, you can run a one sided safety. Probably isn't much though.
Thanks for the heads up.

Im one of those......leftys 🙃

When I first read that I was thinking the same but that little lever doesnt seem to just run interference. I think that lever is an arm that seems to rotate something else tucked away (didnt investigate closely) that allows the trigger bar to move.

Now I wonder if CA has a unique trigger bow too. For the record Im just speculating. Maybe Ill mess with it tomorrow.

Yeah if you drop a mag in real life with a single bullet in it, you die.
It was definitely interesting seeing the IDPA guys crap their pants when dropping mags when they went and shot GPA.

Next weekend will by my 2nd GPA match, definitely can't wait as the format/rules are pretty good. Why they kept tactical priority? Who knows.

No GPA within 100 miles of me
Wants to shoot IDPA, you know, because it's defensive and real life scenarios (with a fishing vest). 😜
Yea, the vest thing is trivial to say the least. Unfortunatley, theres no GPA within 100 miles. USPSA is though.

It's better than nothing. Im new to the sporting side so Im trying to find my home. If you have legit advice, school me.

IDPA says you can't reload in the open when exposed to unengaged targets. Fair enough. But fire the required two shots, and suddenly you can reload in the open, even if the threat isn't neutralized. Apparently, bad guys stop being threats once you've met the minimum round count. 😅

If your goal is to develop ACCURATE marksmanship at SPEED, I'd recommend jumping straight into Steel Challenge or USPSA. Defensive tactics is a different discipline altogether.

USPSA (or PCSL) means more rounds (more fun!), more distance (pushes fundamentals), greater flexibility with gear, including AIWB, and more freedom to approach a stage based on your own skills and equipment. There's also more thinking involved in planning and executing your run rather than following a prescribed sequence.

Another thing I prefer is the freedom of movement. Some of IDPA's awkward, prescribed body positions when shooting around barriers are just inefficient and unnecessarily restrict movement. USPSA lets you figure out what works best rather than forcing you into some unnatural shooting position.

It's also more dynamic, with hit-factor scoring that rewards a balance of speed and accuracy rather than IDPA's down-point system.

Either way, welcome to the shooting sports! You'll learn a ton, meet some great people, and have a blast doing it.

I once signed up for an IDPA match but I never made it because I got annoyed reading all the rules, I would have had to use a different holster, mag pouches and belt, the capacity restrictions are very low, the stages are short, there's the engagement rules, the dropping a mag rules. USPSA has 32 round stages, can reload whenever you want, can use a holster hanger or run from concealment if you want, can run 140mm mags and it's a lot faster and that's where the really good shooters are. I definitely have no shade for anyone doing any kind of competition so if you like IDPA then rock and roll, you are doing better than 99% of gun owners by competing at all. Definitely worth trying some USPSA matches too though. no weight restrictions for Limited Optics for the p211 which is nice.

I'm stressed out just thinking about it
