Get it ported for less. Ramjets make your pistol longer so if you ramjet a 19 compare its recoil to a 17 non ramjet and you would be surprised and how small the difference is.
Now compare a ramjet 26 to a 19 ported and you will throw that ramjet in the trash.

It really depends on the circumstances. I started out with a basic CA P365 and got a ramjet for cheap so the setup worked out financially plus I wanted to add more length to give me more leverage below the belt. But when it comes to my G19 I use a ported slide/barrel because I don't want to add more length in this scenario.

I'm waiting for that G26 Ramjet and Grit Grip's G26X grip so I can throw the two together for a gun that's comped but maintains the G19 footprint. Porting with a quality finish (nitride or DLC) isn't always cheaper plus you are guaranteed to have down time.

According to AI both of the inferior P320 kluges hacked from the hammer fired P250, the partially captured torsion sprung lever striker safety, and the when so equipped manual safety that did not block the sear directly, both have been redesigned similar to the P365, so that's great news!

Manual Safety

Trigger Bar Block: When you flip the safety lever up into the "safe" position, an internal post or shelf mechanically locks into a recess on the trigger bar. This physically prevents the trigger bar from moving forward or rearward when the trigger is pressed.

Sear Block: Simultaneously, the safety mechanism places a physical barrier or hook directly underneath the sear assembly. This ensures that even if an extreme external impact or component failure were to occur, the sear is mechanically blocked from dropping down to release the striker.

Striker Block

The SIG Sauer P385 utilizes a fully captured coil spring and plunger striker safety design, similar to the architecture found in the P365 platform (and most others since forever).

The Shift in Safety Architecture

The P385 represents an entirely new "ground-up" design that deliberately moves away from the inferior internal safety mechanics of the older P320, which were derived from the hammer fired P250.

The P385 adopts P365 Logic

For the P385, SIG Sauer opted for a clean-slate, modernized design. It utilizes a traditional vertical plunger driven by its own captured vertical coil spring located directly inside the slide. This plunger physically blocks the striker's forward path and is only lifted out of the way vertically when the trigger bar rises during a complete, deliberate trigger press.

The roster is kind of irrelevant now since CA made microstamping its own standalone requirement seperate from the roster. Commencing January 1, 2028, California law requires all semiautomatic pistols sold or transferred by licensed dealers to be certified as "microstamping-enabled". So best case scenario even if Sig were to make a CA compliant P385 and get it on roster by the end of 2026, you would only have one year to buy it or any gun for that matter before all the guns curretly on the roster are banned.
