P385

Ramjets are a waste of money ?
Schitts Creek Do Not Want GIF by CBC

Get it ported for less. Ramjets make your pistol longer so if you ramjet a 19 compare its recoil to a 17 non ramjet and you would be surprised and how small the difference is.
Now compare a ramjet 26 to a 19 ported and you will throw that ramjet in the trash.

I’m content with my P365 lineup.
No P385 beta testing for me.

It really depends on the circumstances. I started out with a basic CA P365 and got a ramjet for cheap so the setup worked out financially plus I wanted to add more length to give me more leverage below the belt. But when it comes to my G19 I use a ported slide/barrel because I don't want to add more length in this scenario.

I'm waiting for that G26 Ramjet and Grit Grip's G26X grip so I can throw the two together for a gun that's comped but maintains the G19 footprint. Porting with a quality finish (nitride or DLC) isn't always cheaper plus you are guaranteed to have down time.

Its a completely new FCU but closer to the 365 than the 320 it looks like
According to AI both of the inferior P320 kluges hacked from the hammer fired P250, the partially captured torsion sprung lever striker safety, and the when so equipped manual safety that did not block the sear directly, both have been redesigned similar to the P365, so that's great news!

Manual Safety

Trigger Bar Block:
When you flip the safety lever up into the "safe" position, an internal post or shelf mechanically locks into a recess on the trigger bar. This physically prevents the trigger bar from moving forward or rearward when the trigger is pressed.

Sear Block: Simultaneously, the safety mechanism places a physical barrier or hook directly underneath the sear assembly. This ensures that even if an extreme external impact or component failure were to occur, the sear is mechanically blocked from dropping down to release the striker.

Striker Block

The SIG Sauer P385 utilizes a fully captured coil spring and plunger striker safety design, similar to the architecture found in the P365 platform (and most others since forever).

The Shift in Safety Architecture

The P385 represents an entirely new "ground-up" design that deliberately moves away from the inferior internal safety mechanics of the older P320, which were derived from the hammer fired P250.

The P385 adopts P365 Logic

For the P385, SIG Sauer opted for a clean-slate, modernized design. It utilizes a traditional vertical plunger driven by its own captured vertical coil spring located directly inside the slide. This plunger physically blocks the striker's forward path and is only lifted out of the way vertically when the trigger bar rises during a complete, deliberate trigger press.

Well, by the time it gets on the CA roster beta testing will be done.
The roster is kind of irrelevant now since CA made microstamping its own standalone requirement separate from the roster. Commencing January 1, 2028, California law requires all semiautomatic pistols sold or transferred by licensed dealers to be certified as "microstamping-enabled". So, best-case scenario, even if Sig were to make a CA-compliant P385 and get it on the roster by the end of 2026, you would only have one year to buy it, or any gun, for that matter, before all the guns currently on the roster are banned.

Good point. I have been buying like crazy last few years to get everything I might want prior to 1. Glock bans and 2. The microstamping law. Almost done.

It sounds so extreme that it seems like there would be a good chance the law could be blocked but there are plenty of unconstitutional gun laws that CA is allowed to enforce. Maybe a recent SCOTUS ruling will invalidate it?

You’ll never be done. When you get to the end do your list the list will just grow a few more and a few more and then a few more.

Designed so that they P385 FCU doesn't fit in any P320 grip frames? I'm shocked, I tell you...shocked.

It is extreme. It just solves the problem so I no longer need to worry. Honestly, I would own much less firearms if I lived in a gun friendly state which I find ironic

I was able to stop buying for about a decade. Hoping to get back to that point soon. I’m realistically down to one more .22 LR pistol and one more .22 LR rifle.

Shoutout to all the hard working Sig Beta testers doing it for free.
You see this is why the gun community has issues IMO, ego and obsessive brand loyalists so easily 💩 ing on each other and 2A products because what, Sig didn’t issue you a personal apology and bake you a cupcake?

It’s because Sig is a terrible organization

Just the worst. Think if you were a biz, would you just admit fault and essentially roll up in a ball and go out of business. Or would you listen to your attorney’s, revert back to court cases and continue trudging along learning from mistakes. lol everyone says “I don’t like how they handled it”.
How TF would ANY company handle it, smartly? Or bow down to the haters who can’t replicate such a “widespread” problem? They second they bake you your cake and issue an apology, it’s game over whether it’s humans effing up or not.
Just look, Glock recovered

You don’t have to reward them with your business. Sig should be paying you to beta test their new handguns, not the other way around.

Also Glock never had a fatal design flaw and then lied about it.

"before all the guns currently on the roster are banned."
They aren't automatically banned. Penal Code §27533 expressly exempts a non-microstamped pistol if it was manufactured OR delivered to a dealer before January 1, 2028. PPTs are also exempt.
