Police are good at taking reports and then helping build the case against the criminal after you die though. They have an important function. Helping you is not their job though.

I got hit and ran before by a drunk mexican guy, and confronted him. Called 911, CHP didn’t respond for like 35-40 minutes. He had already left.

As I said, police serve an important function with taking reports, patrolling, building cases for the DA, traffic etc but they’re not a personal defense squad for you and their job isn’t to defend your life. Take it up with the Supreme Court if you disagree.
