I recently got myself a stack-on 18 gun cabinet and am looking for recommendations on what lights/magnetic attachment i should buy for it. I mainly have a need for AR mag storage aside from also keeping ammo long term. Currently no pistols but plan to later on. Current Configuration is left half rifles storage while the right side is shelfs along with the top being a shelf. Any advice besides getting a better "safe" is appreciated. ty.

Best advice I ever got was ditch the cabinet and buy a SAFE.

I personally like these lights. May not be the perfect solution but they work well enough!

I even bought a matting and spray adhesive to soften up the cabinet but never actually used it.

Cabinet is temporary until I relocate for work in the near future. Its just an added safety since i have family over with kids from time to time.

Personally, I don't play the "my safe is bigger than your safe" game. I see the utility of having a giant safe and a dedicated room to hold it, but that's not practical for many of us. I think it's better to have a couple smaller safes. They're not easy to break into, and your risk is distributed. Get the kind of safe with bolts on all four sides of the door. Bolt the safes to the wall and to each other. Now you have one big monster that can't be moved. The weak point of such a safe is not the enclosure or the door, it's the lock. Even so, they're not at all easy to circumvent. I took mine apart when they were new and took pictures, just in case they ever failed and I needed to break in. It won't be easy, but it can be done.

The safe is just the second layer of defense. The first is the home alarm. They're cheap to buy, and monitoring is the price of a couple boxes of junk ammo per month. I've had false alarms over the years at my house, and Five-O rolls up in a few minutes.

Unless the Oceans 11 crew is specifically targeting you, has a layout of your house, has studied the make and model of your safes, and brings all the appropriate tools, no one is going to get into your safe.

Most cheap Amazon magnetic lights do the job very well; look for motion sensor ones to save a bit on charge time.
I have two sets of these for the past year:

Just some advice from someone who owns both a safe and cabinet (for temp storage). Always GET A BIGGER ONE.

Can't tell you how many times I've had the issue of playing tetris with all my ammo boxes, rifles and pistols which could've been solved if I had just simply invested in a much larger safe to begin with. Rookie mistakes 😭

I would suggest getting some sort of motion sensor/tracker. Could be a simple wifi door contact sensor inside the door of the safe so you can be notified the second it gets opened. If you want more peace of mind you can a sensor that works off any motion such as Kini and it alert you if anyone shakes the safe thus tampering with it. If your nuts like me you will have a GPS tracker with geofence that will alert you if the safe ever leaves your address ;)
