Shield plus losing a round when ejecting

I just picked up a shield plus and overall I’m impressed with the pistol. I’ve noticed a strange quirk though. If I eject a fully loaded magazine from the pistol, every once in a while, a round will pop out of the magazine and fall out while ejecting. This only happens when the slide is closed, and the magazine is full. I’ve heard a few people say that this is kind of normal for micro pistols. The pistol performs flawlessly otherwise though.

I would guess that since it's a ten round mag it's super tight when its full and when it strips the first round it takes the second round out halfway

I thought it was just mine lol. I have the shield x and same thing both 10rd mags do it randomly. & a buddy with the 15rd mag says the same. The gun is still 100% no doubt.

It doesn’t matter if I rack the slide or not. If I insert the mag and immediately eject it, it can happen.

Is the magazine brand new? Probably just stupidly tight because of how many rounds they hold. With new mags I usually load them fully and let it sit a week or two and that always seems to kinda break them in

If you want to break in modern mag springs quicker, the repeated compression of the spring is what causes wear/breaks the springs in. It's a lot quicker to just load and unload each mag a few times.

Yes, I've experienced this myself on a couple pistols. When a round is being stripped off the top of the magazine, the second round is being dragged forward a little bit. Put a few miles on the pistol and magazines, and the symptom will diminish, if not disappear.
