So...browsing handgun marketplace ads here, ive already come across a couple gen 6 glocks. Priced about the same as those gen 3s you guys were talking about (~$1600)

And this is utter stupidity! Because there's nothing like this in California. Even the Glock 42 isn't sold there, and it's been in production for over 12 years. Ruger is not a competitor. Everyone was waiting for Bodyguard 2.0, and S&W gives the market the Shield X... Are they even sane over there?

I searched around before January 1st, but nobody could get me the Glock 22 I wanted to buy. I thought it would be prudent to get a handgun for bear protection, as I am going to hunt bear this year. Well, next year now, Dec. 28th was the last day for bear hunting this season, so I will be hunting pigs until next July.

I kept trying to get onto calguns.com, rather than calguns.net, so I guess I was caught with my pants down on that...I contacted Sportsman's Warehouse, they had a EDIT: Glock 22 Glock 29 in Alaska, but wouldn't ship it to California for me. I was told nothing into and leaving California until the laws are defined better.

Look, I keep my fingers crossed that all of these infringements in California will go away, but it seems that never happens. Will this be the year we finally get our 2A back as it was meant to be??? I don't have an answer, and don't think it will happens as we want it to be, but nothing more than I would like is to have a Walther PPK 380 for CCW.

I moved from West San Jose, over by Cupertino. I did RSO at the 10th Street pistol range, once upon a time, but Sunnyvale, Coyote Sporting Clays, Metcalf and some of the others that haven't went out of business. In Lake County, I pay $50/year and get RFID access to the range to use from Sunrise to 30 minutes after Sundown. It costs almost $50 to go to the range for 1 day in the Bay Area. Konocti Rod & Gun Club uses the Sheriff range in Highland Springs, and a good group of guys. I recently got a Ruger 10/22 to participate in the NRA competition they hold. I will be hunting with 6.5 PRC and 300 WSM, mostly this year. I have a early 60s Remington 700 in 300 WM, and am going to swap a barrel onto the action and put it in a Fierce Carbon Rogue stock I bought from a guy. The 300 WSM barrel came off a Boone & Crocket CDL. I believe the 300 short mag will take anything in NA, including Grizzly/Brown bears.

Personally, the 6.5 PRC (Weatherby 307) will take most anything in NA, especially where I live. Too bad deer season is over this year, there's a ton of deer this year.

One thing I was looking at buying was Smith & Wesson in 10mm with a 4" barrel, that would be a good bear defense pistol also. If so, I will check out UG Imports in Fremont. Anyone have an email for them?

Honestly if you want to live in CA, having the 2A infringements is part of the unfair penalty. Clawing back our rights will always be slow, as the courts can take years to reverse unjust laws, and the state just reacts immediately with another copy cat law to nullify any wins we get.

As for a ppk, if you don't want to spend time hunting around for one on consignment/used at tryouts LGS or online via ppt, you can get the bersa firestorm. It's a ppk clone in .380, and is a slightly more modern ppk with better safety. It'll also be much cheaper, I got mine used for $150, they can be had for $330 new, vs the ppk used will be significantly more expensive. The only con is that it is slightly bigger than the original ppk.

I was looking at North Idaho, in Bonners Ferry, but they're snowed in for like 5-6 months of the year. A friend told me in order to be FREE, you're gonna FREEZE. Taxes are low, but property is expensive. Then I realized I could just be undeveloped property in CA to hunt on, and continue to finish my build.

BTW, I'm just wrapping up with the water district over my encroachment, but have decided that I should keep what I have and finish it to live in, and if I want buy a piece of hunting property, and don't develop on it.

Not too bad of a price since a few months ago a G19.5 MOS was going for $1500. I'm going to wait and see what happens in July.

I had a bersa for years and it was AWESOME. I think I paid $249 for it new and put probably 5k through it. It shot most ammo without a hiccup but there were a couple that it hated...can't remember what it was, maybe blazer alu. Whatever, for the price they are seriosuly awesome little 380s.

As old as it is, it is still a great value gun to get and it's why I'll be keeping mine!
