Smith & Wesson CA M&P... In metal

I have a VP9 Match but I’m planning on picking up a S&W M&P 2.0 Metal just to see how it would perform in Carry Optics. Still searching for a Competitor

Hopefully the new M&P Metal doesn’t have an fugly LCI
It's like some companies go out of their way to make the LCI horrible looking.

When I de-neutered my M&P 2.0 CA version, it was easy to buy parts and drop them in. This was true for the removal of the manual safety and filling in the space with the S&W frame plugs. But for the metal frame, I don't think anyone makes frame plugs for them. Just something to keep in mind.

Yeah I saw this I was hoping they made some safety that somehow didn’t change the frame but of course not for California. I don’t understand why they’re putting manual safeties on them though.

I think all four are optics ready ('OR'?). Maybe the top two are the polymer frame M&P 2.0 since the 2.0 was not on the roster prior?
yeah that's what I'm saying, both the metal and polymer OR

On the current on roster ones, is the LCI like the shield that flips up? I wonder how that would work with optic then
Yea it's obnoxious, but there's at least options to swap out the LCI piece itself for a non ugly one by Apex. For the OR ones, they may make them smaller, or put the LCI on the extractor.

Hopefully, this might make me skip getting a echelon. It wouldn't make sense if the lci sticks up and affects the optics lol

They make one specifically for the metal, they’ve always released them as “limited” but then made more later so probably will drop no re eventually.
Got it. Thank you sir. Also do u know if the brass metal insert is still available anywhere looks like I missed that opportunity. Just caught up on what was out there yday after reading your posts.

Based on specs I am seeing online about the compact model which is comparable to Glock 19, this is supposed to be slightly thicker and taller than a Glock 19; right? The aluminum portion kind of is getting my attention, but only interested for CcW? Do you think the aluminum metal version would have a smoother slide to rail action compared to the polymer version? Currently carrying the ‘ole .40 ain’t all the way dead yet G23 for compact size selection on the permit.

Size is almost exactly the same, but the grip is way more modular, so MUCH better for small hands, and also more comfortable for others.

M&P's don't really have an issue with slides/rails, and even on polymer guns the rails are metal.

So hunter Constantine made a brass one and calculated kinetics made a steel one. Surprisingly the steel one weighs 2.4 oz and the brass one is 2 oz.

If it were you, in comparison, would you carry the compact 4 inch metal version over a Glock 19? Currently, carrying a Glock 23 (.40); was thinking of eventually changing out to Glock 19. But then you would have to deal with the California safety for the M&P 2.0 metal roster version; the IA doesn’t allow the safety mods such as removing of the magazine disconnect. Only way to get around all that safety stuff is to just buy off roster for an IA like that that doesn’t allow those mods.

I don't know because my Sherrif doesn't care, but would they even know you have the roster version vs the off roster? like if you show up with the MD and safety removed would they even know?
