Having a hard time assembling back the hd p4 after a field strip. it stays a quarter inch back before sitting fully flush. What am I doing wrong? Anyone down to meet up in OC that can show me or FaceTime me? lol

Staccato and others have some detailed disassembly and reassembly videos.

Common culprits are:

- barrel link improperly installed
- recoil assembly not properly seated and kept seated while putting the slide back on
- firing pin block lever sticking up

The Dawson kit is helpful especially the plunger pin tool to remove the slide lock pin. It took me a few frustrating times to learn how to take it apart or put it back together. Be patient and go slow. Eventually it becomes secondary.

You mean the slide stop?

Don’t really see point of kit, removing the slide release is simple tooless. Just push it out with finger through the ejection port.

Your finger just pushes the the tab on slide release that interacts with magazine follower. If you gently push on it it will pop out. If it doesn’t, just gently jiggle the Ambi right side slide release causing them to align and then it pops out.

are the first few times really hard because it's brand new? I tried pushing it out with my finger and it wasn't budging. Had to use a small tool, the gun is brand new

Not sure if new or technique not perfected as same thing happened to me and it became really easy after a few tries.

Might be both.
