Walther PDP trigger upgrade

Walther cancelled my order for the DPT I placed yesterday. Did not receive any notification, nor did they state why. I only found out when I logged in to their website.

Happened to my buddy too. I don't know why they're making these decisions for customers. We've got time before 2026. Walther can eff off.

Well that fixed this issue!
So lame! I was going to order it tomorrow since it has been a busy week.
It’s crazy how some of these companies are so worried about liability of shipping to California (understandable to a certain extent) probably because they know ca is so sue happy and anti 2A.

Even though Walther canceled my DPT order I decided to remove the MDM lever and cam. It's not too difficult an upgrade. Just follow a YouTube video on PDP disassembly. After you pull out the sear cage and trigger you can remove the lever attached to the MDM cam by rotating the cam and pulling up. After it's out the cam will just fall out. You'll have a hole in your frame unless you purchase a PDP plug on eBay.

I thought I read people saying frame modifications were necessary. Sounds like just a part removal.

Yes remove a lever and a cam. I think the frame mod is the hole you have to plug up where the cam was. I'm a lefty so I switched the mag release side, dremeled down the ledge around the button, and also filed the plug so it sat flat against the frame. It's a little ugly but functional.

Agreed. The trigger is fine. The only thing it needs is a ZR Tactical Vspec guide rod.

My gun was unusable with the Vspec. It would fail to return to battery about once per magazine...absolutiely unusable. I have the full size 4.5.

I emailed ZR tactical ...and they replied uhh, yeah, We recommend the D spring for 4.5 PDPs and larger. We recommend the D spring for defensive use in any PDP. (Aren't we all using our guns for defensive purposes..I mean if not CCW, then keeping it in the house for use "as needed"). Even for my "range toy guns" I have loaded mags sitting in a section of the safe for SHTF scenarios.

Lesson learned. Do not follow the fanboi herd and all the hype. Proceed with research and caution. I thought I did, I tried to read up on the various spring weights and watch YouTube videos.... lol. I guess I didn't read more with a skeptical eye and critical thinking. One of their videos proclaimed the Vspec the goldilocks choice...and so I ordered it.

"keep all CCW guns fully stock" yeah yeah. I said that on my glock ccw, and first thing I changed was the stock trigger lol.

I also ordered the Vspec for my PDP Compact (4.0") SF based on many solid reviews on Reddit and YouTube. After reading through their guide, I decided on the "PDP-Cap-SS Finish: Stainless Steel (silver), Spring: V (V-Spec) Spring rate is -20% from stock - 2 grooves on washer"

Sure does rack a lot smoother, I will test it next week at the range.

Interesting. I installed the V-spec in both 4.5” and 5” PDPs and had no return to battery issues at all. Contrary, it was actually the 4.0 that failed to return to battery twice with the V spring during the first mag I ran through it, but it honestly seemed more like a grip issue on my part as my 4.0 is the F-series. Made an adjustment and it ate about another 100 rounds with no further incident. Was running 124gr S&B, for reference. FWIW, I was initially skeptical about the difference the ZR captured guide rod and spring would actually make, but can say that it did significantly improve the recoil impulse and I have no concerns on reliability.

That's a shame. When you watch their YouTube videos they are pretty ambiguous. They don't come out and tell you anything. They hint at what you might want. My PDP Compact seems to be running fine right now. I have not had a return to battery issue yet. Someone here is going to want your Vspec.

Once I read "Competition Only" on their 15lbs spring I went with D spec.

ZRT is now also not shipping to CA....shame should have ordered extra springs.

I have the plug but I haven't removed the cam yet because I haven't shot my 4" PDP compact yet. If I decide I like it enough to keep I'll remove the cam but not replace the trigger. By not having to rotate the cam with my trigger pull I think it will improve the trigger enough.

Is the CA version stock trigger bad? I have the off roster, had it for years. My stock trigger is awesome. Always get great feedback. Also bought the performance trigger. Undecided if im gonna install or not tbh. Just wanted to beat Jan 1

I have the 4 compact. Best handgun i own atm. Hands down
