Weird or no PPT - Unhelpful shop rules

Has anyone had experience with doing a PPT at Antioch Armory?

GLASER ARMS. Dude runs a legit shop. Always top notch. I walked in did a ppt and another customer walks in wanting to buy a gun. He told customer be right with you I have these guys first.

29 OUTDOORS. always quality service, even during the scamdemic they did ppt's no issues. BUT recently did a ppt there and sales person told me ppt pistols needed to be on safety roster. He must be new or uneducated on the laws.

City Arms used to do ppt's east no BS wonder what happened.

I second 29 Outdoor in American Canyon. I’ve been using them for years and they have been great. Also, they have a very knowledgeable gunsmith on staff. If they are open he’s there working.
I have noticed a lot of turnover there recently. All of the staff I recognized (except the gunsmith and the owner) disappeared over about a 6 month span.

As crazy as it may seem, I did a PPT (buyer) at Turner's in Fresno. Amazingly efficient.

I made the mistake of going to a Turners yesterday to try and PPT. After first being treated like I was a criminal coming to rob them, the wad manager comes out and says “I don’t have the staff for that, go somewhere else. You have to make a an anppointment and we don’t have any for the next month.” Meanwhile there’s 5 guys standing behind the gun counter chatting and nobody there. Left a scathing yelp review, told him I wasn’t coming back, mentioned that if they refuse to do PPT’s their FFL License would be in jeopardy (stores are required to offer that service to keep their license) and I’d be mentioning that to the powers that be, and walked out. Went to a small store my grandpa used to go to a couple miles away and was in and out in about 25 mins, plus I got myself a cool milsurp rifle they had on consignment too. I know it’s Turners, but really? “I don’t have the staff” buddy you’re paying a bunch of moronic high school age kids to stand around and chat, I think you do have the staff and you’re just a lazy wad. In Orange County area, avoid the Orange Turners at all costs, but I highly recommend Ade’s gun shop.

I had been using them for the past 5-6 years and noticed the same turnover.

Yeah it actually suprises me when some says turners is where they like ppt. I guess it’s hit and miss. Last time I did one in Norwalk fairly recently and it was fairly busy but we were treated well like any customer buying anything. Low fees for online purchases as well. I've been dealing with him for years and he has been easy as can be EVERY SINGLE TIME.

I've heard good things about the Pittsburg store in Northern Cali. They do PPT's on the weekends which can be a challenge to find these days and no appointment necessary. Of course it's always dependent on how busy they are.

This reminds me of another slightly irritating policy, what is with gun stores being closed on Monday's? Is it because they are open Saturday's so their employee weekend is Sunday/Monday? Is this a thing everywhere or just my local area?

Last year I had a really hard time finding a shop in Sac that wasn’t charging “storage fees” on top on the usual state fees. The worst was $100 for the 10 days and then more every day after. I was trying to coordinate with a long distance seller and we were both going to be driving multiple hours. Ended up using a Turners down towards Fresno. The only wierd thing they said is money had to change hands outside of the building or they would be required to charge tax. It was a little uncomfortable handing off a few grand in the parking lot but otherwise the transaction was smooth. Took forever but they were busy.

Maybe 5 years ago I met a gentleman there to sell him a Gen 4 Glock 17. The guy was asking how I acquired the gun and I was explaining I got it through Single Shot Exemption...and when the clerk heard that he literally told me I couldn't talk about that in the store. I thought that was weird but ok, whatever. The buyer asked more questions, I answered, and was warned again that if I talked about it more we'd have to leave and do the PPT elsewhere. We both stayed quiet, finished the PPT, then outside the store I answered all of the buyers questions. WEIRD!! I don't know if they thought single shot exemption was illegal (it wasn't) or what.

2 years ago I had them handle a gun genie purchase of mine and it went great. Fast, efficient, no surprises. Those are my only two data points for you though

Not sure why you are trying to instigate a problem? My post is related to PPT's. In particular trying to do them on Sunday's and Monday's which has been problematic in my area. This is what prompted my post. Am I now exonerated, or do I need to elaborate further to gain your approval?

Yeah, I think this is exactly it. I think almost every store seems to be closed on Sundays and Mondays.

Yeah. Not sure if that’s even legal but all the shops I called except for Turners were charging storage fees of varying amounts. Again it was a few years ago. I haven’t even bothered to try a PPT in that area since.
