TMI......had to go there buddy!I've carried a 5 shot snubbie for 40 years.
Why would you want less rounds? I have trained with 10 rounds and with standard mags. I dont see why less rounds would ever be a better idea. Most people cant tell the diffference between the fraction of weight difference to offset the capabilities of more rounds. What is more important to you for a carry gun. If you have an older gun, say a Glock 19 with freedom week mags, or a newer pistol but with 10 round mags only, what would you choose?
It doesnnt sound like you carry a firearm too often. The times that I have ever had to use my sidearm, 5 rounds is the minimum rounds needed to negotiate 1 person. In the very unlikely event I would need to use a carry gun, I feel like it would be even less likely that I will need more than 5 rounds, let alone 10. The only thing I can think of off the top of my head for why I would even want an extra mag is for any malfunction issues.
So for me, I’d go with whatever I think I can shoot the first 1-3 rounds best, under duress.
Shootability > capacity any day of the week. Doesn’t matter how many times you can miss. Gotta be able to hit the target. What is more important to you for a carry gun. Both. I have never felt the difference between carrying 10 rounds and 24 minus the length of the mag.Carry or home defense?
Until it’s not. Progress and section 8, sorry, affordable housing have a way of bringing the problems to you.I won’t deny that, I’m very lucky to live and frequent in areas that are normally quite safe.
