2. Oracle - bigger problems than isolated to CA
3. CBRE - 5,000+ CA based employees with only a very small number of ops roles that migrated.
4. HPE - Juniper Networks continues to expand its Bay Area footprint
5. AECOM - 2500+ employees with continued CA project and infrastructure work underway
6. Tesla - 47,000 CA based employees and $5B in expansion investment since the 2024 layoffs; moved Eng and AI HQ back to Palo Alto
7. SpaceX - majority of the 22000 employees remain in Hawthorne, along with the Falcon & Dragon Production
8. X (formally Twitter) - cant really blame that trainwreck on CA.
9. Chevron - just corp relocating; Heavy Ops and Industrial Base stays. (makes sense)

Just so you guys know, if you didn’t. This site is operated in Texas. I’ll always maintain a presence but I tend to agree. We’re taxed into oblivion.

The site itself has it own CA LLC, but offloads operations to a different entity.

Republicans when they were in charge didn’t do any better. Look at gas prices now, they moved out of CA. That ain’t lowering prices

My issue is paying high taxes and cost of living, yet what they tax us on never goes to what was approved and is “Stolen” for some hand out program, etc.

I’ve voted “No” on new taxes for 15 years now because the POS in govt lie ever time they ask for more of our money.

The NGO’s and non-profits run by politicians are the biggest scam. I would so love to run an analysis on government programs and ties to politicians. I’m sure if AI got truly out we would see where our money goes. The transparency is what’s lacking under the guise of “assistance”. The reality is if our tax dollar really went where it was supposed to a lot of us wouldn’t be so bitter.

After all, content is what brings people to the forum, and people coming to the forum brings in advertising dollars, doesn’t it? I would hardly call people who take the time and effort to contribute the content that people end up coming here for “freeloaders.” But then I never understood what anyone else’s “fair share” of the money other people worked for was anyway, so what do I know?

That is a very common misconception: that big business naturally hates socialism or government regulation. That is not necessarily the case.
Look at Germany. Large corporations could operate quite successfully as long as they cooperated with the state and remained useful to it. More generally, big companies often do not object to regulation when the regulatory system favors established firms, raises barriers to entry, limits competition, or allows them to influence the rules.
Modern Germany provides a less extreme example. For decades, major German industrial companies operated successfully under a heavily regulated economy with strong labor protections, environmental rules, and substantial government involvement. Problems became much more serious when energy policy sharply increased costs for energy-intensive industries.
Small businesses are often affected very differently. A large corporation can afford compliance departments, lawyers, accountants, specialized software, and the fixed costs created by complicated regulations. A small company may face many of the same requirements but spread those costs over a much smaller revenue base.
That means regulation can actually strengthen the position of large established companies by making it harder and more expensive for smaller competitors to enter or remain in the market. In some cases, big business may even support regulations that impose costs it can easily absorb but that smaller competitors cannot.
So the real dividing line is often not “big business versus government.” Large corporations can coexist very comfortably with a powerful regulatory state. The more important question is who bears the cost of the rules and who benefits from them.

You'd be surprised how few advertisers there are in California, while complaining about California. I'm just saying, don't be like a Democrat, but you're welcome if you are a Democrat or a Republican. I would just appreciate less condescending remarks to users sometimes. You'll notice "Contributor" badges sprinkled around users. That's from users offering genuine unbiased help to other members. It is a free badge and comes with its own upgrades. Perhaps you're unaware but it's slow during this time of year, ads dropped by 40%. and as mentioned fill rate is ~45% right now. So nearly 5.5 ads is my own CA2A.com ads or local FFL ads to supplement this site. This site is banned from several places. There's a reason 2Agear.com and CA2A.com are up. A community has to sustain itself, the big advertisers are akin to the federal subsidies and has heavy swings. The local and you guys are the state. Content is great but has to be sustainable overall. I haven't really pushed the other sites yet because they are in the final stages of feedback/testing. Just a few test posts here and there, looking for nuggets of feedback.

I do have to start asking a little more once everything is setup because it is tough, but a lot of what we make is circulated back into the community itself like GridIron. That's effectively a month of $3-5 memberships. If you saw my taxes, I make less than a cashier working at McDonalds. Don't get me wrong, should this work, then it would be great and we could sponsor all the matches in Cali like Grid Iron, that's the goal with R66/Sac Valley as the next venues. So don't take it the wrong way, we gotta keep building up because its really tough for anything 2A here.

Life is all about perspective. You can choose to be miserable and always think how good the other guy has it, or you can count your blessings and find joy right where you are. Humans are extremely adaptive. If you are miserable now and move to a new state you would have a little hit of dopamine for something new and exciting and then you would adapt to your new normal.

I just landed from a week in Texas (outside DFW) I’m happy to be home.

Quite honestly, I was hoping for more of the “great California exodus” which didn’t really happen. Still too crowded and expensive. I’m cool with being the 7th or 8th largest world economy for less people and more affordability.

I just bought my ticket to go to Texas. Depending on where you land, the people are quite nice and have nice little downtowns The only thing that's annoying is the long flat drives.

A 1.7% tax on a less expensive Texas property can be less overall than a 0.7% tax on a similar property running at a San Francisco market price. Those are the average percents for both. In metro areas, it can be 2.9% in Texas and 1.18% in California.

Median home values in California are about 2x what you'd find in Texas. If being specific on city, then San Francisco median values are 3.4x what you'd find in Houston.

Also, rent in California can be double what you'd find in Texas.
