what other company leaving California.

And many of those subsidies circled back to their operations' impact on the local economy.

Subsidies are spent by Tesla and go to workers as a paycheck, who then go and spend it on shopping, dining, entertainment, etc.
Subsidies are spent by Tesla and go to suppliers for metal and other materials. The suppliers use that to expand and hire more workers and to pay said workers, who like the Tesla workers use that money on shopping, dining, entertainment, etc.

That's why I also included a second link containing a report from IHS Markit detailing the downstream effects of a business.

Democrats scare businesses away with threats of taxes, or by creating unsustainable working conditions via feel-good legislation leading to disasters like the shoplift friendly soft-on-crime policies.

4th largest economy and CA doesnt take in nearly enough tax revenue for all the causes Democrats want to spend it on. Taxes have to be raised by a LOT, on EVERYONE, not just billionaires. At some point people need to realize, CA could be the largest economy in the world with the highest taxes in the world and it will never be enough for Democrats. So bragging about how large our economy is, is actually very damning. And not the argument most "artists" think it is.
Our revenue is fine, it’s the spending that’s a bit out of whack. You can see it at the federal level too. Politicians getting greedy in plain sight.

But, but, we aren't spending; we are "investing" in our future, for the children. LOL. Pretty piss poor ROI if we are "investing". But don't worry! The "Democratic" "Artists" got it all figured out. Everything we need/want is a "right" and we should get it for free because of systemic racism. We don't need a military or police, for that matter. Criminals and foreign adversaries are just misunderstood. We dont need to protect ourselves from them. Just talk it out. And if we get phucked up, we had it coming anyway. Because racism. It's really that simple. Why can't you see? Even a retard understands this. Haven't you been to a No Kings rally? Lots of, umm... really, really "smart" overly educated people get it, like Mark Ruffalo. The dude is a genius. It's all the fault of "potato" billionaire pedophiles. Oh, and never forget we are all on stolen land anyway, so we get what we deserve as long as it is catastrophic. Right? Right? Viva Mexico! Free Palestine! Abolish ICE! Anybody who doesn't agree is a "pretzel"/racist and should be "dealt" with. No point in trying to reason with "pretzels". But if we defund the police and military, who is going to handle all the "pretzels"? And the police and military are full of "pretzels". So, hmm... how are we going to get rid of them if they are the only ones that should have guns? Maybe Russia, China, Iran, North Korea, Hezbollah, the Houthis, or Hamas will help us disarm our military and police. And then we can become part of Canada or Mexico since they are so superior to our country, which was founded by wealthy, racist white male, slave owners, on stolen land.

We are living in the movie Idiocracy. Heck, that future might even be optimal.

I can see more large corporations leaving California. It's easier and cheaper to do business elsewhere.

Those that have a physical presence here will re-locate corporate offices and ownership to avoid California corporate income taxes. Corporate officers and employees that follow will also avoid California taxes.

They will still pay operational taxes here on their remaining facilities.

Paramount has that large lot in Hollywood. They will keep it as it's paid off decades ago. Productions will still be made, whether by Paramount or other numerous film companies that rent there. High union crew costs may dip further into work done there.

Other states are aggressively working to attract Hollywood productions with low wages, non union crews and tax breaks. AI will cut costs with no need for sound stages, dubbing rooms, Foley stages, editing rooms, mixing theaters, etc. The new non DEI version of Homer looks great and costs $25,000 instead of $250 million for that Hollywood DEI version.

Hollywood will need to adapt or it will be further hollowed out.

California consistently ranks between 31-37 in k-12 education depending on the reporting party. Let that sink in, "4th" largest economy and we can't even provide funding and quality education for our kids.

Yup. Very damning. Almost like it's not about the money, or even the teachers. What else could it be then? Certainly not the parents. No way, that's totally racist, bro. Duh, it's all the fault of racist billionaire pedophiles not paying their fair share.

I agree with a lot of this, although some of that circle of life subsidy also made a trillionaire, which Im not sure is a good thing. That aside, the system is Democrats today, and its the GOP tomorrow - different flavor; same poison.

This state and its rate of spend (on the wrong things) is moronic. So we have that as a baseline, and why would more taxes solve anything? It would just create pushback (like you mention) and continue the silly spending practices that exist today. That said, the majority of the state tax revenues come on the backs of people; not corporations.

The balance seems off overall, and while I can't stand the way we spend and make decisions in this state, the whole system (federal and state) pushes the tax burden downward to the people and we seem to think that if that balance is disturbed business will turn and run. We are conditioned to defend businesses who are avoiding taxes and then at the same time, resenting the state reaching into our wallets - which we indirectly promote in our defense of them not paying. The money is going to come from somewhere, so they punch down and take it from whatever can't fight back.

They must love it when we are distracted and fighting amongst ourselves about the Libtard, or the Alt-Right. It keeps us from rethinking the system in a united way.

Musk himself does not have a trillion dollars sitting in a bank account. His businesses are doing as well as capitalism would dictate and their valuation and his stock in those companies adds up to a trillion dollars. To convert all that stock into actual money adding up to a trillion dollars would be very difficult for him, the company, the stock market, and the global economy.

It also means his entrepreneurship has created value and more importantly created jobs for people who needed them.

Elon is so autistic; I doubt wealth is what drives him. I think he is driven more by doing something everyone said couldn't be done. People tend to forget that he was in deep debt and completely out of cash at multiple times in his life before his companies became so valuable. In 2008, he had to borrow money from friends to pay rent and personal expenses.

This rhetoric comes up all the time yet California's revenue outpaces most of the rest of the country and just saw it now supplant Japan to be the 4th largest economy in the world.

90% of the time when a company "leaves" California, they're just changing the location its registered in but maintaining the offices and most of the staff. This is pretty apparent with Space X/Tesla since they've only shut down one office in CA when they opened another ... in CA.
Yeah now if only that money would trickle down to the average person drowning in COL and improve our public infrastructure too; meanwhile the state is broke.... not holding my breath...

Court clerk hours just cut again in the nearby county due to budget shortfalls. Nice!!! Can't afford to pay 50k a year basic staff for critical infrastructure but 4th economy whateva

Parents play a part of course. But lack of funding for schools, books, broken equipment, no air conditioning, buildings not maintained (I.e. leaking roofs, mold, bugs, rodents) under paying teachers, and the list goes on.

More damning, why are teachers worried every year they are going to be pink slipped and out of a job due to funding. We can’t keep the best teachers because they are leaving the state for job security and better pay.

As for the parent aspect, that is a societal problem, that society needs to confront and correct.

When I went to grade school, didn’t matter how F’d up your parents were, you behaved (reasonably) and learned; because there was still corporal punishment and no one wanted the paddle that hung behind the principals desk on the wall.

Besides Paramount leaving this will also include Warner Bros which Paramount is buying.

Warner Bros has a larger presence in LA than Paramount. Warner's has a large Hollywood lot plus a bigger one in Studio City, the "Burbank Studios".

I did a lot of work on both lots. Paramount and Warners use some sound equipment I designed and built including the Foley room mics.

Both have the largest sound stages in LA plus duplicate Foley and scoring stages. Burbank has the Eastwood scoring stage redone for Clint back in the early 1990's.

Export the suits of Warners as well as Paramount and CA will loose a lot of income tax. Newsom will have double the splainin' to do.

I just bought my ticket to go to Texas. Depending on where you land, the people are quite nice and have nice little downtowns The only thing that's annoying is the long flat drives.
That's called West Texas, and man is it long and flat!

Did you go to school in the 1800's O____o

go a layer deeper beyond the partisan talking points.

1. Charlies Schwab - 1000+ Bay Area Employees and open reqs for headcount; continued branch expansions and relocations.
2. Oracle - bigger problems than isolated to CA
3. CBRE - 5,000+ CA based employees with only a very small number of ops roles that migrated.
4. HPE - Juniper Networks continues to expand its Bay Area footprint
5. AECOM - 2500+ employees with continued CA project and infrastructure work underway
6. Tesla - 47,000 CA based employees and $5B in expansion investment since the 2024 layoffs; moved Eng and AI HQ back to Palo Alto
7. SpaceX - majority of the 22000 employees remain in Hawthorne, along with the Falcon & Dragon Production
8. X (formally Twitter) - cant really blame that trainwreck on CA.
9. Chevron - just corp relocating; Heavy Ops and Industrial Base stays. (makes sense)
10. McAfee - Eng and Execs still here...

The others are kinda like saying my local corner store closed. Just saying.
As a former Twitter employee how dare u

Nonsense. California spends nearly $30,000 per student on K–12 education. That is roughly twice what countries such as Germany, Finland, and Japan spend per student.

California’s — and, more broadly, America’s — education problems do not come from a lack of funding. They come from an expensive and bloated administrative structure, powerful teachers’ unions, and a system that too often seems more concerned with with brainwashing kids into becoming 👨🏻‍🎨s than with teaching students basic math, English, history, and science.

But that is only the problem on a small scale. On a larger scale, the modern school system increasingly lacks a clear purpose.

Universal mass education was developed largely for an industrial society: to produce a literate, disciplined workforce that could function in factories, offices, and, when necessary, the military. That is no longer the society we live in. Yet the basic structure of the school system has changed remarkably little.

As a result, the system itself is increasingly poorly suited to modern needs. Too much of its energy goes into sustaining its own bureaucracy and protecting the institutions and jobs that already exist rather than asking what students actually need to know in the 21st century.

The result is a system that can spend enormous amounts of money (which we do, and anybody who denies it clearly a product of that very system) while still failing to ensure that many students graduate with even a solid command of basic math, English, history, and other fundamental knowledge.

I have a few friends that are teachers. They district implements new rules and regulations, on top of old rules. Just like our laws, we just keep getting neutered.
