If CAGUNS.NET marketplace gets to where CALGUNS.NET once was, when they were at the top of their game, they'll have accomplished much, but interaction between the participants within the various sub forums, over at the Twilight Zone, many smaller items and weapon specific ammo changed hands or were bartered away. The regs screwed up the ammo except once you mad a friend, you still did what you did, same with Cash & Carry. It's much harder to build trust, PAX

I wouldn’t know. It’s seemingly impossible to register on CGN.

Access to classifieds isn’t my top priority either. If it was, there are numerous other venues that aren’t subject to a perpetual crash. That alone makes CAGUNS better in every way, for me at least. To each their own.

Amazon. YouTube (DIY). Booking a flight, hotel, dinner rsvp. There are an infinite amount of convenient time savers via the internet. No doubt those who value their time utilize it accordingly.

I didn't even think calguns worked anymore. I havent tried for months. When a sit wont work for 4 or 5 days in a row let alone weeks why go back.

CGN once had a monopoly California Gun Owners Internet Forum, those days are long gone. I can see that many of the remaining users still have an allegiance to their history there. If it works for them, that is great.

At this juncture, I would equate trying to set up an account or navigate regularly on there to a battered spouse that won’t leave their situation, despite regular beatings. CGN is a hard pass for me dawg.

Pricewise, I think calguns has better deals than caguns. I thought sellers on calguns were delusional. Sellers on caguns are even more out there with asking prices. The only explanation I can give is just more experienced sellers on calguns knowing what a realistic price is.

One more reasonable one is many of the newer shooters started during Covid and purchased at higher prices. Pre-pandemic prices and shooters priced things less. Post pandemic everyone purchased at a higher price new.

I don’t think experience has anything to do with it. They were selling $2000 Gucci Glocks before it was a thing. Here higher priced off roster but still stock items. Everything is more expensive post pandemic

Alas, the days of anything cheap, especially in CA, are all but gone.

With that, a dedicated working gun forum for Californians is of immense value, especially due to the unique circumstances of gun ownership within the state. Collectively, gun owners in CA have to do things a lot differently than the rest of the country, statewide communication is of significant benefit. CAGUNS certainly has the potential to be that platform.

I can see that many are here primarily to buy and sell on the secondary market, not surprisingly. Eventually with more registered members CAGUNS can be what CGN apparently once was.

The consumer gun market has been really soft lately. Not as many folks have the disposable income to buy, and things are more expensive than they have ever been. I have held off selling a couple of my firearms as a result. Many over spent in the pandemic years and are probably still recovering. As a result, we are getting a nation wide market that reflects that consumers are recovering and hesitant to purchase. It isn’t a good time to be a buyer or a seller anywhere these days. When we come out of it is anyone’s guess, it may be a couple years.

Everything I've posted here has sold. Not so much on the other site. I like this site much more than the one that don't work anymore, even if it did work.

The price of some guns is ridiculous when they are stock. You cant overcharge for something that you know is worth a lot less elsewhere or it wont sell. Also ppl who purposely upgrade stock guns to try to flip them for profit are seen through. No glock is worth 900+ no matter what generation it is or upgrades. You can buy those upgrades and do it your self for a fraction.

The only thing worth pursuing is off roster guns that you just cant attain elsewhere but then have to look to see if they are worth it. Have they been upgraded, how many mags come with it. Is there anything special about it that it's worth the extra money then make an informed decision.

If the Admins here allowed 'price policing' like on Reddit and Tacswap the prices would be a lot better for all. Too many posts here with nonsensical prices and posts that have MSRP/near MSRP pricing for common items (I'm looking at you Mawl c1+ dude) and not moving for a reason. The community allowing to make a comment and say "hey man your price is a bit high you'll probably have a hard time selling as previous sale show it selling for x amount" goes a long way.

You can leave a $ emoji, if more people that leave it should let the guy know. Otherwise, it’ll expire on its own within 90 days. But if the price is msrp minus the 20% in taxes that’s still a deal iMO. Just because you dont think so, doesn’t mean they should lower their price to what others think. Free market works via buying or scrolling past.

If they don’t move it’s ok. Things don’t need to move instantly. If you ping the guy and offer a little lower I think that’s fine, but got be in the same ball park.

I’m thinking of offering a new prefix, no lowballers, since there’s a lot of people who kick tires. I don’t want people to waste time on either side.

It is easier to just move on. If an item doesn’t sell, it doesn’t sell. Some people take pricing way too personal. I don’t sell things much anymore, when I have in the past it was always a pain dealing with low balling cheap skates with the obvious intention of trying to get something for nothing. It is a double edge sword.

A seller should be able to price at what they would let their property go for. The value set should be satisfactory to both the buyer and the seller. If an accord is not met, then so be it. Potential buyers should not bring their utility bill money into the equation either. I can’t tell you how many people try the angle of “I only have x amount of dollars.” Or the classic “come on man” angle. If someone doesn’t have the money to deal then don’t waste another persons time with nonsense.

One potential buyer may find the asking price too high, and another potential buyer may find the price perfectly agreeable. Regulating the price of another persons property should never be an acceptable practice. Let capitalism happen.

There's such a thing as 'market rate' which is infact determined by the free market, aka capitalism. Lowballers suck, yes, and to be clear im not speaking to those people, but people dropping the price of their item 5% off msrp is lame and bloats the marketplace, having to scroll and click next way more to the point by the time im on page 4 im over it.

But so far this forum has priced itself as to be a only a firearm sell/buy forum as GAFS and Tacswap have way better deals for everything else. Reality is unless you have a rare or high demand low supply item your item is not worth as much as you think, nd hoping som poor sucker thst doesnt know any better will bite is ty practice to encourage.

Couldn’t tell you. I had abandoned cal guns from my daily use because I could never get online . I finall posted a few classifieds there last week and I’ve gone as much as 3 days without bumping because I couldn’t log on. And I’m retired so I’ve tried like every hour and been locked out.
