Which Site Has Better Deals — CAGuns.net or Calguns.net? 🤔

Calguns sellers are generally easier to work with as they tend to have more older, less money grubbing sellers compared to Caguns younger crowd. I fall in the middle of these 2. I generally have great deals or fair pricing, but at times may be stingy, as my prices are lower than others and people wanting it even lower.

Out of the last 5 purchases this year, only 1 has been from CAguns, and rest from Calguns and Armslist.

OP, Your question implies that "a great deal" is the sole criteria for buying. I disagree. Details really do matter.

Everyone knows homo-sapiens (in our modern times and long before) can't buy any car at any price and the first words uttered as friends see it are, "And I got a great deal"...whether they did or not isn't important. The phrase is rather meaningless as there's no context of what defines "a great deal". Charlie's great deal could be quite different than yours- yet you both could be quite pleased.

Its not unlike posts asking "what should I get as a first handgun"? Again- without context, none of us can divine what is suitable. What you or I prefer could and is likely driven by different needs, applications and budget. We still see posts like that and have for decades. Buyers who early on ask "what does it cost" simply show they know so little, they don't know where else to start.

Funny, have exact opposite experience. Had over 100+ positive reviews sale/buy on Calguns and almost everytime someone tried to nickel and dime me even though I would be one of the cheapest sellers at that moment. Big younger crowd there these last few years. Lots of the peeps I knew at the start have either moved on, or passed on.

Also, seemed in recent years there has gotten a lot of flakes and tire kickers there. Just my experience, been on Calguns since 2007, different name.

I only sell on CAguns. Calguns is too inconsistent. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. . Sometimes it lets you post and sometimes it doesn't.

You will very often find the same weapon from the same seller at a 5-15% discount on Calguns. Olde Tyme player’s club loyalty discount. If you don’t believe me do a deeper dive, I speak the troof.

Since nobody can create a new account on Calguns for the last 6 months, and I am not a member, I have the displeasure of seeing items for sale that I cannot reply to. I even had a kind Caguns user who had an account reply to an ad on my behalf providing my contact info and the seller never replied.

That's worse than not seeing them at all!

The troubles accessing Calguns, believed lots of us already described. For deals I'm not going to lie that I have had some good deals over the years there, but most of them were like 2 hours driving distance at least since there was no location's indicator.
I have bene with this site since mid year 2024, I don't see myself going back to Calguns though changing the familiarity and habits were a little bit annoying from the beginning when I switched.

Calguns doesn't work. How does anyone sell anything there when you can't log in?

I’ve sold 2 firearms within past week and currently setting up to meet for a ppt for an atlas and staccato that were way better deals price wise than can find on here. I’ve had no problems logging in on a daily basis. I think a lot of sellers on calguns have lower prices in thinking that the site doesn’t work so they are trying to move them quickly b4 the next site crash. I also agree that the selection here on cagun is a little stagnant and overpriced compared to listings on calguns, Reddit and tacswap when you look at CA listing for off roster

Pros and cons to both. Calguns, a little more frustrating and harder to check in on a regular basis. Caguns, works every time but doesn't seem like the marketplace is as active as Calguns.

I've had 2 items listed on here and Calguns at the same time. Both of those items sold through Calguns.

I've purchased a few guns on Calguns over the last year and none through here. A little more limited selection here on caguns, lots of guns that have been for sale for a longer time at a higher price. I've had multiple sellers just flat out not respond to inquiries.

Calguns looks to have a larger selection and more lively marketplace. Caguns has a better layout and more refined for sale section.

A bit of a tossup but my marketplace vote is for Calguns.

Seriously the pricing difference is noticeable as I’ve snagged some screaming deals for damn near close to retail pricing on staccato XC over on calguns in past few weeks, that were NIB and unregistered with staccato so I was able to register for the lifetime warranty which most staccato on here are already registered with original owner and no transferable. Kid you not I picked up a XC and included 3 mags, Modlite plc and sro for $5200 over on calguns. Most prices for the XC on here are near or at the $6k range

I'm just glad we have both....Caguns is great and Calguns has been available more and more for me lately... so, the more the merrier.

Calguns was THE go-to forum for California gun owners forever but since the Scamdemic and even before, its servers were slow and often you couldn't log-in at all. Most long-time users simply stopped trying and it's been kind of a ghost town there. They seem to have FINALLY gotten it back working again but I for one am glad CAGuns started. It's Classifieds is much easier to use and feature-rich.
