Which Site Has Better Deals — CAGuns.net or Calguns.net? 🤔

In all seriousness, I have bought about the same amount on caguns and calguns but with more and more people joining caguns I’m expecting caguns will have better deals

But keep in mind it’s pretty much the same user base so we are still going to see a Staccato listed for $4500 when the same gun listed for $3500 hasn’t sold after being listed for a month lmao

One thing to keep in mind too is the housekeeping. There will be hidden gems there because they don’t prune listings. You can discover something 2-4 years ago that someone never updated. I checked for fun, you have one’s that go back to 2012. People need to do the housekeeping there. Here it’s all automated and cycled out to get feedback.

The deals here get snapped up very fast. We have some power users who use the tools to get some amazing deals. At CGN you’d continue to see it. Here you don’t unless you specifically look for it.

I agree you get more of a garage sale experience there. We tried to be different so we could both have a space in 2A because we do things differently. It’s better to have more than less.. more means a bigger ecosystem and more 2A enthusiasts in general

I still check both sites and also post for sale items on both sites as well…..due to website issues with Calguns, I’ve been getting more hits on my ads here on CAguns but Calguns is still my go to when looking for something specific (that’s if the website works of course)……

I'm new to caguns but have been on calguns since 2012. On my first day on caguns I posted 3 separate guns for sale and found 3 buyers in less than 24 hours for all 3 guns. That had never happened to me during my time on calguns. I think this site's set up is better and the community is really great.

Both sites are good, once CAguns picks up more traffic its going to be better. If CALGUNS was working like it used to, it would be an alternative.

I find it’s much easier to negotiate great purchases on low traffic listings.

Back when CAguns was still young and very small, I snagged 3 great deals on stagnant listings.

But now that calguns is half-dead and broken, my last 3 smokin’ deals were from calguns lol.

Dumpster diving takes a lot of time and effort though. It’s not for everyone.

I haven't really figured out how to search for something specific on Calguns. So for a specific firearm search I use CA Guns. But I still just browse Calguns because as OP said, I find better chance of finding a random good deal are on there as opposed to here. A guy in San Diego was selling a Rival darkside for 800 or 1k with an optic I think, a walther PDP for 900, and a Prodigy for I believe 1800? I Don't see those prices on here.

Probably because the CA police officers manual still says go to Calguns to sell stuff

CAGuns is steadily growing though, I check both but obviously prefer this site much better.

"deal" wise I think the ratio is about the same. you get about the same percent of people who are serious about selling things ("deals") vs people fishing for blow me away offers and people sorta "average" in pricing.
there are simply still more guns for sale on cal guns so aggregate there are more "deals" but you have to sift through more ads and they dont have a geographic filter.
I mean it doesnt really help me (in Los Angeles) if I see something in sacto in general.
AND the "improved" calguns site only intermittently works. caguns is much less aggravating to peruse

Like many others stated, I did plenty of transactions on Calguns and they were a solid spot. They haven’t been functioning in a long time so there’s no question who the winner is of your two options.

For me I’ve always gotten my best deals on ar15.com classifieds. They also allow thread crapping on people’s ads if you think they’re out of line. I find this to be both hilarious in content and oftentimes leads to a kind of self regulation of the market place because people who list glocks for $800 get mercilessly flamed.

According to their rules it’s similar to ours here. We follow a lot of the basic guidelines everywhere. There’s a reason it’s a rule. It changes the environment if it’s allowed to one that is subjective.

We allow the price $ but not an opinion if you don’t like it. Drop facts only.

Brand loyalty may be for suckers, but I stick to what works. I've only been here a couple of months but sold half a dozen guns or accessories, and bought four firearms. This site is working for me.
