Year of the Glock 2026!

I'll point out that since 29 April - more than two months ago - California has added precisely 6 pistols to the roster. And four of those are different colors of a pistol that already was on the roster.

I'm pretty sure DOJ could easily add a pistol each working day to the roster. Drop test in the morning, take a nice lunch, then write up the paperwork in the afternoon. That would make for 45 new pistols on the roster since 29 April.

And we got 6. Four of them unique colors of the same pistol. Less than 14% of what we should be getting.

Maybe the problem is California? I know.... No one saw that coming.

In fairness to Scott, he wasn't pulling it out of his ass. Glock was trying to get something on the roster. So far they've failed.

No animosity but he started the rumor that’s now spanned 22 pages here and on other forums / Reddit / etc so the least he could do is come back and weigh in. He was working with the best information he had at the time so I don’t blame him for that. But posting once then peacing out while staying active in other threads isn’t cool.

Theorycrafting is fine and being wrong is completely okay. Still it’s clear a lot of people here and on Reddit and elsewhere are holding onto false hope.

This is why I created an account here and just started asking questions on this thread.

SCOTUS is more likely to step in than the CA DOJ is to accommodate Glock and Glock knows that.

Unfortunately nothing’s happening in 2 weeks. Follow this thread around page 12-16 to see what Glock is actually doing.

1st step is a Gen 3 with the V Series trigger bar fix if it gets approved.

We’ll likely see confirmation here months before that SKU is added to the roster, but only if you express a desire to @gorgothmog to file further CPRA requests. Otherwise none of us are getting jack sh*t, and you’ll keep theorycrafting some pipe dream that Gen 6 is coming :)

That’s also why the R66 guy who started this rumor is quiet as f*ck.
I don't think it's as simple as modifying gen 3s with a V trigger bar , it would essentially be a new firearm model perhaps , hence needing MD & LCI which I don't see As a possibility happening as most Gen 3s are out of production as of today

AB 1127 has a specific carveout saying manufacturers can modify already roster approved guns without having to make it fully roster compliant
(a) A pistol may be submitted for testing described in Section 32010 and added to the roster described in subdivision (a) of Section 32015 without being subject to the requirements of subparagraph (D) or (E) of paragraph (2) of subdivision (a) of Section 31910, or the requirements of subdivision (d) of Section 32010, if all of the following conditions are met:
(1) The pistol was listed on the roster, described in subdivision (a) of Section 32015, on January 1, 2026.
(2) The pistol was not subject to the requirements of subparagraph (D) or (E) of paragraph (2) of subdivision (a) of Section 31910 because it was submitted for testing before the dates identified in subdivision (d) of Section 32010.
(3) The pistol was thereafter only modified to change design features which brought the pistol within the definition of machinegun-convertible pistol in Section 16885.
(4) The modified pistol is submitted to an independent certified laboratory for testing pursuant to Article 5 (commencing with Section 32000) of Chapter 4 before January 1, 2027.
(b) Any firearm meeting the requirements of this section shall be removed from the roster according to subdivision (b) of Section 31910 on the same timeline as the pistol that appeared on the roster prior to being modified pursuant to this section.

I stand corrected thank you. But I still see gen 3s being unlikely as I mentioned most gen 3s being discontinued

Going from discontinued to back to manufacturing is within the capabilities of Glock.

Read the documents from the discovery request or ask questions.

Does anyone have the REAL numbers for non exempt Glock sales in California? I just keep seeing "well, it's a lot" with no actual data to back it up. Remember, Glock is privately held, there are no shareholders to cry and moan if they choose to leave money on the table. The widow is already rich as Croesus and only cares about horses, so I can easily see her saying "F- it, too much hassle, Boy bring me some more champagne". They have already clearly demonstrated they aren't willing to expend much effort for the California market, or Gen 3 would have been superseded by now. I'm not sure why that's expected to change. Seems to me they are willing to go with modified Gen 3s, and if that's a no go I can see them just throwing in the towel.

the V trigger bar is essentially a gen 5 and still considered a cruciform trigger bar so it will not fly with CA. Not sure but why has glock not consider putting their performance trigger into the gen 3 frames? That trigger bar itself is not a cruciform trigger bar and works great in all my gen 3 frames.

That's what I said too. They can easily resume production on the gen 3's and even add the gen 6 models onto the roster if they wanted too. Make the GPT fit and toss it into the gen6, add a mag disconnect to the frame (Derya did it, glock should have no excuse as to why they can't). As for the LCI, they've had it for quite some time already. A manufacturer as big as glock can do it if they wanted too.

LOL, do you think Glock just shut down the Gen 3 lines and covered the machines with sheets, ready to be dusted off and fired up at a moment's notice? That's not how it works generally.

How does it work at Glock?
It works the same at all businesses. The resources are used or sold off. 💩 software companies don’t have source code because they would overwrite hard drives with new data to save money. It’s how HK 💩 is being built in other countries, the machines are repurposed or sold. Stop acting like a child, you own guns I assume. Please act accordingly.

How does it work at Glock?
Real estate/space in at any manufacturing facility is always at a premium. If manufacturing equipment is stopped and not manufacturing the company is loosing money. It is very possible that any Glock Gen3 manufacturing space at Glock manufacturing facilities has been updated with Glock Gen6 manufacturing equipment. That holds true for the Glock 17 Gen1/P80's of a few years ago. A lot if not all of the original Gen1 equipment was gone and had to be redesigned. If Glock's are reinstated here in California it will be something other that Gen3's. My thoughts...

Companies restart production constantly when demand justifies it. Glock kept Gen 3 alive for over a decade for one reason: it was grandfathered past CA's CLI / mag disconnect / microstamping / drop-test rules and anything newer has to pass them fresh. It only got dropped because of the crucible trigger lawsuit, not because Glock forgot how to make a pistol lol.

Open the market back up, run the math and the line comes back. That's how manufacturing works.

Glock has started and stopped and restarted lines in the past.

I doubt that they sold off the equipment needed to make generation 3 glocks.

I am speculating here, but most likely 90% of process is just importing a different .cad file to the cnc machine to make a gen 3 vs a gen v or gen 6.

I doubt they erased the hard drive for the gen 3 to save money. That makes very little sense in this day and age of vast digital storage.

Referencing the comment on gen 1 glock information/specs being lost. That makes sense. Gen 1 went out of production in the 80s, which was a very different technology landscape and business mindset.

IMPORTANT CALIFORNIA HANDGUN UPDATE

Glock Gen 3 pistols will remain on the California Roster, however Glock is no longer producing them.

What does that mean?

Any Glock Gen 3 pistols currently in dealer inventory remain legal and available for sale

Once existing stock is gone, availability will be limited to what dealers already have

That said — this is NOT the end of options for California.

Yes, you read that right: NEW options are coming to California.
Matrix arms invictus, steel frame; would be nice.
