While I get there are many great options on the roster now, many people want guns without the “safety” features especially for CCW if they cannot or will not modify their pistol.

So are you referring to a mag disconnect which has no effect on a pistol firing, no more that a broken firing pin.

If the mods demonstrate an anti-EV bias when people take potshots at EVs, I am not going to be happy. At least let me defend the cars I drive/love when people crap on them in passing.

I didn't start the debate, and I don't crap on ICE cars in gun threads for no reason.

If the mods are going to delete the forest fire (my response) then they should start by deleting the lit match on the tinder. Nobody's going to beat me in a debate about EVs but I don't come to a gun forum to talk about EVs. But, if someone takes a shot....I should be allowed to counter. Mods shouldn't demonstrate such an obvious bias.

I've seen more than a few EVs at my local range, and a high incidence of CyberTrucks.

One other thing to keep in mind for right-leaning EV-haters...if you're not a Democrat and you voted for Trump (or "not Kamala"), then you have Elon to thank in large part for his win. That's one of the many reasons we Tesla-owners get so much hate.

What may piss me off more, is the people who bought teslas and now have bumper stickers saying things like "I bought this before I knew Elon was crazy" like really? He's always been kinda insane lol. The CT is literally a truck. What do you call a vehicle with an enclosed cargo bay, 51" x 71.84" and with no wheel well incursion? That my friend is called a truck, or a wagon if you prefer. You can put sheets of plywood flat in the back, close the automatic tonneau cover, and nobody knows you're carrying anything. That to me is better than a truck.

You don't have to like it, of course. You also don't have to buy an EV anymore than you have to buy an eco-car due to ever-tightening CARB restrictions. You are stuck with unleaded or diesel fuel...for now.

This debate will keep going in society for a while, just like the debate about American vs. foreign cars back when Japanese cars started showing up on American shores. Now, Japanese cars are normal and well-loved.

This is an age-old refrain, and nobody is claiming the power station is powered by solar, though this may be happening in the near future. My personal Tesla (paid for with TSLA stock), is charged 100% by sunlight. The point being, you don't have this option with ICE, ever. You can't install your own gas station in your garage, and no matter how full your tank, you always lose a little by the time you get home.

Electricity, which all of us use, is great because it can be generated with a plurality of sources; nuclear, hydro, solar, wind, clean coal, etc. You only have one choice when it comes to ICE fuel, which is fuel derived from oil, a finite and contested resource...and then you're driving a car which generates emissions and suffers with power variability based on air-density. Meanwhile, an EV was used for three moon missions, and EVs are far more flood-resistant with 100% torque from zero, and have far less parasitic power loss compared to ICE and far fewer moving parts/points of failure.

That said, I loved all of my ICE cars. I'm 57 and that's what I drove my whole life, but it's good to actually have first-principles experience with anything one hopes to truly understand. We don't have a lot of choices yet in the EV world when it comes to form factor, or SMALL cars which I love. That will come, especially as battery tech improves and smaller yet high-range battery packs offer more possible form factors.

We also hear a lot of FUD around Tesla's self-driving, and it is not perfect yet, but it's WAY better than most people realize. It's also way better than human drivers in aggregate. Some people don't even know about this tech, yet nearly all are floored when they experience it vs. reading disinformation campaigns on Reddit or similar.

You've established that Glocks are the most popular guns on Earth. That makes Glocks more akin to the ultra-reliable Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic, not the explodey Pinto.

If someone is buying something by choice, they're by-definition NOT being swindled. A swindle (like a con) necessarily involves deception. Also, if off-roster Glocks aren't a swindle, then this logic applies to all off-roster guns. The value proposition relates to supply and demand, and off-roster guns often have much less supply than demand, hence the higher cost.

I consciously overpaid for every PPT gun I bought, but I was not swindled. You gotta pay to play in California if you want off-roster hotness. I can make more money, but I can't make a CZ TS2 go on-roster. I also can't move to a free state...yet. With sufficient funds, one can create what is effectively a free state simulator, but for the mags and 10-day wait period.

Agreed, and I don't think forcing anyone into an EV is the right move. The environment matters, but that's about 20 on the list of reasons why I bought my Tesla. Drive one and it becomes clear, and if you still dislike it after that then fair enough. Some people fear motorcycles and never rode one. Some fear guns and never handled one and know nothing about them. That's how I see strong opinions in low-information environments. My own brother was talking smack about FSD (full self-driving) tech but refused to let me demonstrate it to him. Where do I even go with that?

On the freeway, lane changes are basically teleportation, and it's hilarious to ditch tailgaters in a way that loses them and demoralizes them in one shot.

FSD is a whole other convo, and I love how well my car drives itself...and I LIKE driving. I could not believe how well it handled L.A. traffic, city and freeway. Topic for another day, and another section.
