The statute has the following definition:

Cal. Code Regs. Tit. 11, § 5471 - Registration of Assault Weapons Pursuant to Penal Code Section 30900(b)(1); Explanation of Terms Related to Assault Weapon Designation

[...]

(rr) "Threaded barrel, capable of accepting a flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or silencer" means a threaded barrel able to accept a flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or silencer, and includes a threaded barrel with any one of those features already mounted on it. Some firearms have "lugs" in lieu of threads on the end of the barrel. These lugs are used to attach some versions of silencers. For purposes of this definition a lugged barrel is the same as a threaded barrel.

The GT4 and GT5 will be important competition for the Staccato HD line. It might not be impressive to competitive shooters but the GT4 and GT5 might be attractive in pricing. Sub $2500 for a quality 2011ish gun is something we were not getting for years.

I'm checking more of the gun economics and lowering the prices of its competitions

The first full-size California compliant 2011, likely to come in under or around 3k?!

These things are going to fly off the shelves and the aftermarket for them will boom.

There’s actual value in leaving something to be desired, especially for those of us who like to tinker.

Riflegear has both the GT4 and GT5 free state versions listed for $2099 there’s a chance that we get them for $2500-$2600 after taxes depending on your county.

These will absolutely sell. They will also push down the off roster prices for guns like a CZ TS2/3, Shadow 2 variants, DWX and a few others.

Most of the legal theory in this thread implied that lugs = "threaded barrel" and has already been hashed out pretty thoroughly so no surprise. The Reno May video doesn’t really add new legal analysis he does introduce a few things I haven’t seen documented here yet:

He claims that DOJ has already denied the P211 for roster specifically as an assault weapon not just for failing standard roster requirements. He also claims that an actual DOJ agent flagged it at an FFL which points to enforcement rather than just interpretation. He frames this conclusion as being based on multiple independent sources (missed it here if someone mentioned it) rather than a single vendor report.

Everything else lugs suppressor capability Ramjet (which is prob coming next) comparisons etc seems to overlap with what’s already been discussed here. So if those enforcement and roster denial claims are accurate that’s probably the new piece of information from May.
